I'm so glad I was able to get this family photo last year. Little did I know, it would be that last like this :(:(:(:(:(

Darn, just reading about this. I'd rather the garland over a new parade personally. I like the decorations, hopefully they just raised it and didn't take it fully away like they have with so many other decorations.

I will be truly sad if they get rid of the wreaths. It is something that makes it feel like Christmas. I have been to MK during the filming of the parade when there are no wreaths and it feels empty. I know a lot of people would rather have some of the parade floats, i'm one for the holiday decor- the parade can be out the rest of the year (run a special parade during the holidays much like DL).

I still think they should put the garland up and run the Christmas parade from November 5 through Christmas.
That dated thing? I'd much rather have our brand new dragon out on Thanksgiving than a dated Christmas parade. I think what they already do (Christmas parade during normal park hours the week of Christmas through New Years) is more than adequate. I would be upset if I could only go during the last 1/6 of the calendar year and was therefore unable to ever see Festival of Fantasy.

Won't happen. The "exclusiveness" of the Christmas Parade only during the Mickey Christmas up-charge event helps sell it. Typically they do the Christmas parade only the last few days before Christmas during the day. Those up-charge parties closer to Christmas will sell out anyway. Not so with the ones in November and early December. Showing the parade for "free" to day guests would further erode the up-charge attendance.

Agreed. Part of the reason why we love the party is the parade. If it was during regular hours, there wouldn't be much more to look forward to (well, the cookies and hot chocolate are pretty high up on the list).

Or they could do what every other Disney resort in the world does and give all of their guests full access to Christmas entertainment throughout the season at no extra charge.

That's the funniest **** thing I read today…

People talk about money grabs - MNSSHP/MVMCP are the most egregious and WDW guests have been brainwashed for them for a very long time. They used to offer pretty good value at very decent price. Now, not so much.

They'll never go away, because they've conditioned their guests to expect to pay more for what should be everyday offerings. When a RUMOR trickled out that DLR was considering implementing MVMCP, the backlash was unreal. No other Disney resort could get away with the double whammy of MNSSHP/MVMCP.

I'd be more interested in MVMCP if they had anything worthwhile, but after years of steady downgrading, it's nowhere near worth the ticket price. The parade is so-so, castle show is bizarre and old, fireworks are just okay. They got rid of their one really good show and replaced it with a managerial parking lot.

I wonder how far out we are from the Star Wars hard ticket event?

Was watching vids of MSEP this morning and remembered that MK takes the top part of the clock tower off for the garland. Of course who knows this year, if they do something higher for FOF, they might leave the clock tower alone. Still, it would be interesting to see how the clock tower looks tomorrow in MSEP or even now backstage. if the top part is off, that's a sign of garland IMO. But, if the tower is too tall for the garland, where does that put FOF?

im going to be at disney from December 23 to January 1st and from what I understand the festival of fantasy parade is not being run on any of those day except for the 1st. So I'm very curious to find out what happens. I guess we'll see in a few days.

The reason the FoF parade won't be running is that they do the Christmas parade that week for all guests. I'd be very surprised if they put the wreaths up just for that week, but you never know I suppose.

The backlash was from Disneyland fan sites. They also said an up charge Halloween event would never make it and they have been quickly proven wrong. Mickeys Halloween party has proven quite popular with guest. It's only a matter of time before Disneyland offers an up charge holiday event for Christmas.

DLR does Halloween parties, you know that, right?

Halloween at Disneyland and Christmas at Disneyland are two different things. Before the Halloween party came, Disneyland didn't really do that much with Halloween, so the party was more welcomed. Christmas, on the other hand, has always been a big thing at Disneyland, since 1955. And it's always been free. The Christmas parade is 20 years old and the firework show is 14 years old. So Disneylanders have been seeing and doing the same Christmas offerings, without any extra costs, for decades. This is arguably the main reason why the idea of charging folks for Christmas was received with negative attention from many people.

I can't see the Christmas party idea making its way to California, if not ever then anytime soon.
