Remember the cards the cast members would hand you at the queue entrance and collect at the end to adjust wait times?

I think the red card is still being used at DL...But, it's possible that the magic band did take over that..

This duty was bestowed upon me once, and only once.
SDMT. Back in 2018 I believe. A couple of hours before park closing.

To anyone who checked wait times for that ride that evening around that timeframe...

We got the card several times on various trips. One time someone was handed the card in front of us and I saw him put it in his pocket after walking a short distance in the queue. When we all got to the loading area he started to walk to his numbered lane and I called out... Hey the CM needs that card to manage the ride time. He sheepishly took it out of his pocket and said... Oh yeah, I forgot I had it.
Someone went home without a desired/ wanted souvineer.
I last time I saw a card in use was three years ago at DL. Can't remember the last time I saw it used at WDW. Like everything else tech is replacing manual things once relied upon. Even with tech I sometimes wonder how accurate the wait times are that are being posted.

Technology took over. But you can’t beat FLIK cards and a seasoned cast members knowledge of their attractions queue and capacity .

They used to hand out red cards at the entrance to attractions. The CM would scan it, hand it to someone getting in line who would then hand it to a CM at the other end of the queue, who would scan it again there. The time between scans would then be reflected in the displayed wait time for the attraction.

I believe the text was added in later years. I remember getting one or two early on without text. It was a big deal to get the “red card” in our family.

I was given one of these for Pirates at Disneyland back in September, waited a little while, it was moving fairly quickly until I got through the doors and the queue just stopped moving for some reason so I left the line as I suddenly had to pee really bad and then rejoined the queue again from the back as I was on my own and it didn’t seem that long and didn’t want to be that person who pushes their way through the whole line. Forgot I had to card until boarding and so the time would have been really messed up
