Preview of the new Toontown costumes -

These new uniforms don't work.

They look like "townspeople" from a bad 1990's SciFi film where the future looks pleasant and colorful but is actually evil.

Also, what's with the shoes? I take it they are going to let the CM's wear their own random colored tennis shoes now? That looked cute for the photo shoot where they all had new shoes on, but it's a dumb concept that sounded good in a TDA conference room but won't end well in the real world.

You'll just get CM's wearing ratty old Nikes and dirty old Converse, instead of don't-see-'em black work shoes. If you want the CM's to wear specific footwear, issue them the specific footwear. Don't let it be up to the CM's judgment to decide what is artistically acceptable.

I know I sound like Debbie Downer tonight, so please don't worry about me. I'm actually in a great mood and have had some wonderful news come my way this week and am in a fine mental state :D. But...

I'm not liking the string lights. Why are they there? What town would put them up like that? Why then in a toon town?

It looks cheap and unfinished and random. It reminds me of a contemporary 2020's patio in the suburbs where the lady of the house spent too much money at Target on the Spring patio merchandise in an HGTV-inspired fever dream where she thinks she's going to turn her suburban backyard with the ticks and the weeds and the busted meat smoker into a Glam-Cozy Outdoor Resort Space by hanging up some $30 string lights and the artful placement of weather-resistant throw pillows. (That might have been the longest sentence I ever typed.)

Seriously, it looks like they got those string lights from Target. Why? At least the hills look good at night!

Universal just opened Super Nintendo World... With overly animated hills and objects/creatures that move and have life to them.

Toon Town is being redone... With better flat hills and astroturf.
I think it’s a shame cause ToonTown as a concept lends itself well to kinetic energy. Dancing trees with faces, bouncing buildings and lamp posts, walking flowers, etc. Look no further than the opening scene of ToonTown in the Roger Rabbit film.

In addition to the needed overhauls of Goofy, Donald, and the Chip n Dale areas, I think kinetic energy was the direction they should have taken this overhaul in. Instead, we got wacky buildings, crazy signs and fountains removed for flatter buildings and astroturf. We also saw the fantastic music loop paying tribute to 30 years of classic Disney cartoons replaced with…elevator music?

I will reserve my total judgement for the grand opening, but everything I’ve seen from this “upgrade” has been a lateral movement at best, and a downgrade at worst. The addition of a new ride (quality withstanding) is pretty great though, and that queue seems packed with the magical details that made the original ToonTown special.

I think the new TT refresh is a major plussing up. But I def would like to see more kinetic energy.

It would be cool if there was animation on the buildings. For the most part we have more empty space for queues and no trolly. It just isn't as visually interesting as Super Nintendo Land.

It was just that photo/video that made it look so bright.

Found this photo on snap maps, has a cool aqua tone and look at night with the lights.

I mean, that still seems way too bright for a night scene. The hills look phosphorescent.

At the very least they should get darker as they fade "into the distance", or something.

Like, maybe I'm being picky, but even a slight change in Photoshop makes a difference. They've just gotta turn down the lights a little:

Yeah that looks 10x better. They can't make the actual paint darker or else it would show up during the day, but it's also too "flat" to give it any depth. Lighting could also definitely be better. They pulled it off at GE.

Wished they went all out on it lol
