News Reimagined Toontown coming

Update on the music loop:

I'm watching a video of the ride, mainly for the queue, and they definitely play "The Mickey Mouse Club March", at least in the queue, which I believe was always part of the original music loop.

I wonder if Roger Rabbit might get a second wind with MMRR being the new marquee attraction; perhaps folks waiting on their VQs will choose to hang around the land earlier and ride Roger Rabbit (though I feel like even on not super busy days it never had trouble getting 30 minute waits).

Last time I went the queue was all the way into the Taxi Depot. 70 minute wait for a FL-Style Darkride seems like it still is popular.

Unclear why this was necessary… but as expected.

I wonder if Rogers is going to open with M&MRR?

That looks dumb. And tacky. What is the point exactly? Would it have killed them to at least center what few benches remain along the fence? Actually, they should have ordered another half dozen benches at least and then spaced them evenly along the perimeter, but there I go noticing details and trying to do their job for them as "showmen". Or failed showmen, in this case.

I assume this will be mass stroller parking, so why even bother with the AstroTurf? Why not just keep the fountain and all the benches under the trees and park the strollers along the back? What convinced them this was a needed change, I wonder?

I’m not sure but with Mickey and the gang dominating even more of the land with an E ticket and with the aesthetic leaning more into a neighborhood/ park setting it’s still doesn’t feel like Roger is safe. Let alone the obvious fact that it’s an IP that Disney doesn’t seem to care about.

Toontown is the only land without a restaurant. 🤔
I wouldn’t imagine it’s in any sort of real risk anytime soon. The Rudish aesthetic seems to be mostly confined to the ride itself (despite the music from those cartoons taking over the loop). Roger Rabbit also seems to work well for Disney as a niche IP that sells decently every time they bring it out for nostalgia.

Agreed. And I hate that the "grass" looks wrinkled. 🤦‍♀️

Personally I dislike the lamps the most in this photo! They look just out of place on this greenery. If this was meant to expand the area for playing for children, why not throw a playground or something? It could be a small little toddler playground to offset the larger kids play areas on the other side of Toontown.

I'm hoping it's just unfinished.

Fingers crossed....

The women in my family had a strict rule for all of us kids as we entered our teenage years. No one over the age of 12, especially young ladies, was allowed to sit on the ground/floor in public in front of strangers.

The thought was, and it's quite true, that the human body does not look attractive when plopped on the ground. Sitting on the ground spreads hips and thighs, curves backs, slumps necks, and makes legs and arms go all akimbo. Clothing is ruined, tailoring is impossible to manage as your body contorts into bends, and you just look like a giant blobby sea creature stranded on the sand.

This picture reminded me of that. No one, even fit and slender people, looks attractive when they sit on the ground in public. And if you are the least bit out of shape, or worse, you look absolutely inhuman and shapeless. A stranded sea cucumber washed ashore.

Couldn't they put some benches and picnic tables out in this AstroTurf park??? They want people to sit on the hard plastic grass?

It looks less awkward to me seeing people utilize the space to relax. Feels like a little park area in a city.

Could be better, but also already better than the concrete wasteland it was.

The brand new Toontown Park, Presented by Monsanto needs picnic tables and park benches placed around for people to sit on.

Disneyland needs to be a good host for its guests. Don't make people sit on the ground, especially when it's hard plastic grass.

This isn't rocket science. It's just being a good host.

There are a few benches, and a planter ledge you can sit on.

Some picnic tables would be nice as well, but me personally... I'm a sit on a blanket on the grass sort of guy.

Im completely making this up of course but I see they kept the old trolley station building that used to house the trolley (duh) but now that they got rid of the trolley all together and left that building, MAYBE later on they will refurb/gut it, make it into a small food option or something?

A picnic in the park is always fun. But who brings a picnic blanket to Disneyland? And they certainly won't allow you to bring in a basket into the park full of fried chicken and potato salad and lemonade for this mythical picnic.

You can, however, buy a mediocre cheeseburger across the way and a $5 Coke and then... sit on the hard plastic grass?

This whole Toontown Park, Presented by Monsanto really has me scratching my head. It's tacky looking, and obviously not ready for prime time in a park that charges $150 to get in.

Maybe... um... maybe they've got a full set of cutesy picnic tables and benches ready to spread across this blank swath of AstroTurf and they're just waiting for the big grand reopening of Mickey's Toontown in six weeks to debut it? Maybe they wanted a big open space to use for massing Virtual Queue groups or something, so they purposely left it empty and ugly and awkward looking for operational efficiency on Runaway Railway's opening weekend? Maybe???

Let's hope that's what's going on here! Fingers crossed! 🤞
