News Reimagined Toontown coming

Everyone's sad about the fountain, which is understandable, but you've all forgotten about that unwritten rule that was once very true:

At Disneyland, every time a new fountain opens, an old fountain closes.

Unclear why this was necessary… but as expected.

I wonder if Rogers is going to open with M&MRR?

I find myself in the rare position of not being bothered by this change. I like the green space. Some bigger trees would have been nice but they’ll grow. I also think the idea was to have one central fountain (the new Mickey/ Minnie one) so Rogers fountain would have been too close to that one.

Roger Rabbits Cartoon Spin is starting to stick out like a sore thumb in this Toontown refresh. I still have to wonder if it’s on borrowed time.

Does Disney pay Spielberg royalties for the ride? As the Roger Rabbit IP continues to fade into irrelevance from inactivity, I agree that Disney will probably seek to replace the ride.

I’m not sure but with Mickey and the gang dominating even more of the land with an E ticket and with the aesthetic leaning more into a neighborhood/ park setting it’s still doesn’t feel like Roger is safe. Let alone the obvious fact that it’s an IP that Disney doesn’t seem to care about.

Toontown is the only land without a restaurant. 🤔

Unless the Roger Rabbit sequel was planned in the future, so it could have a expansion for Toontown for new Roger Rabbit attraction.

The entire land isn’t officially open yet. I’m holding my breath that the music will return when the land does.

I'm sure they will retain at least part (if not all) of the original loop. It should be noted that the following music was not introduced until at least 2013 or so (I believe these were derivative of the heavily shortened versions of the cartoons that played on the "Have a Laugh" series on the Disney Channel):

I will say, it is pretty cool that the windows in the land's buildings have been spared. I particularly like the one off to the right in the green building:

It's hard to make out, but it's actually for Jiminy Cricket, who apparently is Toontown's resident motivational speaker. It reads "No Foolin'", which is a subtle reference to the "I'm No Fool" series of educational cartoons that Jiminy Cricket hosted on "The Mickey Mouse Club" (many of which can be found on YouTube, if you're interested).

According to some folks that attended the preview on Twitter they also felt like the green areas come alive like a city park (whether that's something Disneyland should aspire to given the price point is another conversation). Regardless, I'm not too peeved when the rest of Toontown seems to be well-designed.

I wonder if Roger Rabbit might get a second wind with MMRR being the new marquee attraction; perhaps folks waiting on their VQs will choose to hang around the land earlier and ride Roger Rabbit (though I feel like even on not super busy days it never had trouble getting 30 minute waits).

Yeah that’s the vibe it’s giving me. I didn’t have any particular affinity for that area and this is coming from a huge Who Framed Roger Rabbit fan. Lot of concrete. Sucks to lose a water feature but there will be a nice fountain just what? 50 feet away?

I think Roger might get a little bump but the height requirement will stop it from getting a “second wind” IMO.

EDIT: oops. There is no height requirement. What’s the issue with that ride then? I think the little ones have to sit in their own seat?

Technically, there are the little walk-up windows that served pizza (at Daisy's Diner), hot dogs (at Pluto's Dog House) and ice cream and yogurt (at Clarabelle's Frozen Yogurt), not to mention whatever Cafe Daisy will serve.
