I noticed some changes in effects as well, I guess I can expect something different every time. Someone in the Illuminations crew is having fun with their new toys.
A lot of the time it is due to viewing position relative to the smoke, and of course weather. A lot of the effects are there, but just not visible.I noticed some changes in effects as well, I guess I can expect something different every time. Here is last night's New Year's Eve show.
It was different on the 21st, too. America lit up first THEN the rest.I see that the pavilions have changed again during order. They used to bounce to each pavilion, but now glow more.

Wasn't the original programming to have the pavilions light up with USA coming in as last?It looks like, for the NYE show, the pavilion and syncrolights reverted back to their old programming. I wonder if the techs didn't bother or have time to reprogram them for NYE show and instead focused on the new laser programming.

One group would light up, another, and then USA? There are three musical crescendos leading up to that moment. One for each lighting.
(Also, doesn't it go in historical sequence? By group of nations?)
No the new colorful swirls during the arts scene are probably no more then a week old, it used to be the same effect they had with the old lasers. I love the new stuff they did in that part. They also have it in all directions which will make it viewable in all conditions.A lot of the time it is due to viewing position relative to the smoke, and of course weather. A wonderful video showing the new lasers and enhancements. Made me love the show even more.
Edit: my apologies as this looks to have already been posted. I'll leave here though for enjoyment.
I thought this was how the pavilions were lit as well. I seem to recall reading some literature about the show's story that indicated it was the "older" nations were illuminated first followed by the "newer" nations.
I think this is correct, but I remember the USA always getting its own "moment" on its own.I've always known the countries light up in 2 sections: China, Italy, Japan and UK on the first crescendo, and then Mexico, Germany, US, France and Canada on the second one (the third crescendo was/is used for the blue pavilion floodlighting).
The new programing flipped that order, with the US group coming on first. It also added a fade/wipe to the pavilion rim lights on that third crescendo.
Not exactly. There was something akin to it, with bars of light moving around and such, but the new lasers allow for large circles to be drawn in the air. The same thing nearly happens in Chaos. That never was visible in such a fashion with the old tech, to my knowledge. Similar motions, perhaps, but all new imagery. And colors. No the new colorful swirls during the arts scene are probably no more then a week old, it used to be the same effect they had with the old lasers. lager fireworks in the finale (at very end) do not launch.
There might have been wind restrictions that night.I thought quite a few lager fireworks were launched at the end of New Year's Eve.

HA! gotcha.I was making a bad pun on the typo of lager instead of larger (implying people getting sick from overindulging at Epcot on NYE) not a comment on the video (which I watched to admire the laser improvements).
