Reflections of Earth improvements including new lasers

Arguments like that remind me of the Star Trek changes to "To bold go where no man has gone before!"

They changed it to to "no ONE has gone before".
That change always bugged me, because it shows that political correctness trumps meaning. The whole point was that no man--no human--had gone to these places before, not that no one--no sentient being--had gone there. They rarely went to uninhabited worlds!

The show debuted with out them. Only whistling fish mines were used, not shells.
The show also used 'screamers' in chaos, too, back in 1999. I have home video of that... should really dig it out. Cool effect.

That's a REALLY interesting point. TNG and VOY did have the crew going to totally new worlds, though... WITH sentient beings out there.

But ST has always had a very PC outlook on these things, too.

Video from last night (Thanksgiving, 2014) taken from center stage.

What's interesting here is not so much the lasers, but how Japan's lights just couldn't seem to get their act together. They were strobing, staying on when they weren't supposed to, not coming on when they needed to.. Obviously a big glitch. Also the first comet at the start of the show was a no-show.

Hopefully the AA laser plays more of a prominent role in the future. Wasn't too impressive in this vid because once again it terminated after Chaos.

IllumiNations used to have a particular beam from America that shot right over the roof of the Contemporary. Looked great from Top of the World but it tended to stray much too far, potentially towards anything flying off property and minding it's own business North of the perimeter.

I remember in 1998, we were over at Old Town on the ferris wheel during the time IllumiNations was going on. Every once in awhile a focused laser shone right above the top of the wheel. I was shocked how clear it was a few miles away!

Goodness, that was weird with Japan. Cool effects...... if they were actually used when proper. hahaha

New female and generic voice in place of Cronkite. Shame they couldn't save the classic narration AND improve the lasers...

Really eager to see the lasers, though. :)

The holiday tag is still as beautiful as ever, even with the change in narration. Can someone tell me if the new narrator is the same lady who does recordings for DCA?

I REALLY miss Cronkite, but the lasers are SPECTACULAR. And I love the new sequencing for the pyro... That finale to match 1000 points of light and THEN the WWIII barges kick in. WOW.

Another angle, from I think the bridge between France and the UK.

Those lasers are darn impressive, and the new pyro is pretty good as well.

One nit pick - no recognition of France for some reason during the languages section.

OK, this begs the question- WHERE ARE THE LASERS COMING FROM?!

Obviously, Mexico, but there's another location to the right. That can't be Italy, can it?
