I'm glad you noticed this too, and explained why the lasers stopped when they did. I was really anxious to see what they would do during the art and culture segment, and certainly when they weren't present for (home) I knew something was up.
I'm guessing its a syncrolight. However, I'm very curious as to whats causing the fan effect from behind the globe...
It's a long exposure from the four lights at the base of the globe. As it rotates it produces the fan in a long exposure photo,
yes, at the beginning you can see the american pavilion lasers to the left, they cut out about half way. same as the Canada pavilion.
As Steve said, it's the lights at the base. If you want to see them flash on during the show, watch the opening of the Earth Barge during We Go On. Not sure of when else they come on, but they are rather striking and pretty then.
Yeah, that doesn't look like it was filmed recently. Might have been uploaded today/this week, of course.
It might have been filmed recently, but the lasers weren't up and running - possibly because of the upgrade (in progress perhaps). Usually, there's no way you can miss them.
That wasn't nearly the full new effect, believe me. If it all pans out it'll be far more impressive.
