EPCOT Reflections of Earth confirmed to be replaced by Harmonious

Sure Vinnie.. that was definitely not the case for me and Ice only lived here a year. I have visited many times and watched illuminations every time. It was always much busier.

I know for sure that the crowds for the current show are much less attended, that's just factual..
Both can be true. Reflections of Earth had poor feedback scores. That doesn't mean that Harmonious is beloved.

I'm not talking about scores. I'm talking about the difference between when I started coming a year ago to now. I said earlier I visit Epcot multiple times a week. Last year it was rows of people, many lined up in even the worst spots for viewing like Norway, hours early. Now, I could go tonight at 8 and still get a decent spot near one of the viewable areas.

Oh, is that why every time I went and saw this from 2010-2019 I was basically shoulder-to-shoulder with others, and it was a mass of humanity leaving the park afterwards? Well, I'm glad we have an expert such as yourself on hand here to verify with hard data that I was, in fact, mistaken all those years and I was there practically alone. Nothing refutes personal experience like a message board "crowd expert" who thinks he knows things.

Back on Ignore for you and your twaddle.
I thought we weren't going off of personal experience and anecdotal evidence? What changed? I knew y'all were old but the dementia is really starting to kick in.

I am glad you gave actual possible improvements rather than crapping on the show because "It'S NoT IlUmInatiOns!"
Well, I really wanted to like the show. I’m not going to lie, I’m a classic Epcot kind of guy so it was harder for me to accept this show from that standpoint. However, I also had a hard time with the show because it went against the gradient and standards I felt disney set for its nighttime spectaculars. So over the course of a few months I gathered what I liked, and what I thought would improve the show. So, I think my ideas would wholeheartedly improve the show. It is no IllumiNations to me but change happens. Thus, I think if Disney would have made the barges mobile and less IP-centric it would have been more widely received amongst the Epcot fan community.

Harmonious is great at “activating the synergy machine” but every time I visit I see less people. And there’s a general consensus with this anecdotal evidence. Are you suggesting we’re making it up? Why do you think Disney would plaster their wonderful new creation on Disney+ in hopes of attracting the non-existing crowds if the show were so popular?

We have anecdotes, you have anecdotes which only work if you exclude all the people on this forum who've said they don't like or aren't impressed with Harmonious.

We have poll results. You have no real data.

Give it up.

The narrative seems to be that both shows have their charms, but the giant braces push harmonious into negative territory.

Maybe I'm just transferring becuse that's how I feel.

I just watched World of Color for the first time and it was nice seeing a show where most of the tech is hidden from guest view. Yes, I do know that most of the barges for IllumiNations was out for most of the day.

Most of my family are the 1 visit per year (sometimes every other year) demo. They love WDW, but aren't fanatics (like me). They disliked ROE, saw it once during it's ENTIRE run and never made plans to see it again. On their last visit, they saw Harmonious and loved it. Made a point to see it 2 more times. I myself liked ROE but grew tired of it. Is Harmonious the show I pictured for Epcot? Absolutely not. Did I dislike it at first...yes. Has it grown on me? Absolutely. It's a solid show that I enjoy watching. It's a good show (not great) that is in the wrong park. Of the 3 most recent Epcot nighttime shows....Epcot Forever was my favorite.

Same thing I'm saying to you and everyone else whining about Harmonious. Illuminations isn't coming back, the past is in the past. Get with the times or get lost

You love setting up that straw man, don't you?

Where has anyone suggested Illuminations was coming back, or even should come back? It's completely irrelevant to the discussion.

I'm sorry you can't accept that Harmonious isn't loved the way you seem to love it, but bringing up Illuminations is nonsensical.

No one is saying Illuminations is coming back. The globe is gone.

Stop saying things that are false.

I had challenged you earlier to quote the people who think Illuminations is or can come back. And you didn't. Because your straw man is false.

False. False. False.

The ring is the largest offender by far. I mean...
$400 for this view?

Like a lot of people, on a much smaller scale I have to think through various scenarios and possibilities in my job to make sure things work related to a range of variables. I think problem-solving abilities are pretty standard requirements for a lot of jobs.

It absolutely blows my mind that they planned and spent the tens of millions they spent on this show despite the fact a very quick look over the plan would tell you that major elements would either not or only be partially visible from significant sections of the lagoon and that the infrastructure of the show would destroy sightlines across the lagoon for the entire day. You'd think either one of those two issues would have sent them back to the drawing board, regardless of whether you agree with the use of IP. It seems on both the creative and executive sides there are big issues at Disney for this to be both proposed and approved.

They should have had the stargate be 3 stargates in an “I” formation so that all four directions could see it, I can’t believe they didn’t do that.
I believe the stargate was the result of budget cuts from the original rotating armillary sphere design. If they’d wanted to keep it viewable from all angles, they’d probably have just stuck with that.

Yes, or had the tacos be more substantial on the sides. I totally get the issues with designing these things remotely. But, this really does seem like the people designing it either have no clue how the park actually works - or were instructed to have the focus be straight on. (Though I doubt that, since the original concept was a spinning compass, and the 6 o'clock to the 12 o'clock of the main WS plaza is actually not a viewing area (American Gardens Theater)). It's really poor execution.
