Reflections of Earth Changes

Hmm, not sure how I feel about the finale. I think I prefer the staggered explosions, but I'll wait until I see it in person before I form an opinion on this one.

I love all of the other changes though. The celebration portion looks great!

Thanks Steve. Was waiting for a new video.

The show is Looking very good. Still a few timing issues but overall very good. Aside from ALF and old lasers of course.

No problem!

Yes the intro is still looking very week without the ALF system, but most other things are looking up.

So what do these recent product updates say about how long RoE has to run before a significant update.

The new show has almost definitely been scrapped, as have any major effect additions. Hopefully some of the latter have just been mothballed (its nearly 18 montns since the WOC lasers were looked at) but with the new product timings tightened just a little and the ALF restored eventually (we hope) the show is almost back to 1999 quality, if not slightly better.

IMHO a tweak of the odd timing and new (even just bi colour) lasers could give the show a few years yet. A plus of space and adventure would be icing on this cake.

Agreed. A laser performance plus would transform things.

I find that to be a problem. It's almost back to 1999 quality? It's 2012. I would like a 2012-quality firework show at WDW. Heck, I'd settle for 2009-quality...

Thanks for the video Steve! I think the changes are a welcome one and don't really take away from the old version. I, too, would like to see the bi-color lasers introduced.

I see your point. Alas, that looks like it won't happen now. I wrote my reply in the context of a show that looks and functions again as originally envisaged.

What changes would you like to see done to the show that could give it a fresh lease of life, without a complete redo?

I'd personally like to see more interaction from the different countries...more lasers, fireworks/comets from them, projections, etc. Also, I wouldn't mind more effects being spread out throughout the lake (water fireballs spread around, mini fire barges). They have so much room to work with that it could easily be done. Also, for photography reasons, I'd like to see the fireworks vary in when they are launched as far as the ground ones that smoke up so much. The smoke ends up taking away some of the effects that come immediately after.

Top of the list? Perfect spectrum lasers. They used to be green and cyan for a reason. Or of the WOC calibre if we can dream.

Better country integration and more use of the pavilion effects during space and adventure. Same with the picolights.

Improved fountains. 1988s barges and parcans don't cut it any more when compared to TDS Fantasmics. Tokyos now look like the ROE concept art!

Reminds me.... I'll finally upload an edit I did showing the intricate laser programming of ROE with a close up angle of the American pavilion from the show.

I'll post it in general discussion this weekend. If I remember :D

Yeah, lasers have made a comeback in lighting for concerts and they are way better than they use to be. Saw the show last saturday and they are still having some serious timing issues. So many of the fireworks that went off above the lagoon where simply off. But the new shells they are using looked really good. It was nice to see some more color in the show.

That would be awesome. I've always wanted to see a focused video on this.

I also wonder how Disney planned them out... Do they have a pc visualization of the lasers that they use for design?

I am still waiting for the day when they get rid of the "on behalf of Walt Disney World, the place where dreams come true," BS.

So corny...

Go back to "Good evening, and welcome. We are gathered here tonight...etc."

Epcot (to me) is not the place where dreams come true. Leave that to the Magic Kingdom.

When did they stop saying "Good evening and welcome, etc"? Is that a fairly recent change?

It's been like that for a while. They have split the original recording to fit in the 'on behalf of Walt Disney World..' part between 'Good Evening' and 'we've gathered here tonight...'

I would like to see more use of the lights on the pavillions and increased use of lasers. As for changes in pyro, I would love to see the type of pyro seen 7 minutes in to this video used. I can't remember what the restrictions are with EPCOT and fireworks around the perimiter, but with the We Go On pyro all now launching in sync, I think it would look smart if similar shells could be fired from the pavillions.

Sorry to bump an old thread but I figured it was preferable to starting an all new one.

Anyway, thought I would upload a YouTube video of the full show that showcases all the new pyro (still no ALF though). Some highlights include all new mines for the second half of Adventure, new peonies for Home (FINALLY in sync with the music again), and a much louder and improved final barrage. Even in YouTube quality the new ending pyro surprised me. :) Enjoy!

EDIT: This is not my video.
