The District contracts out utility services to Reedy Creek Energy Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company.
Weren't those rates approved by the board though. Was there an updated contract that gives them the ability to set rates without Board Approval?

the less he seems like a serious candidate.
Where have you been for the last 8 years where you think "seems like a serious candidate" is a credential?

Yeah, I would love to see a robust, policy-based presidential campaign between serious candidates. But that's not the ballgame that we're playing anymore.

Looking like a loose cannon is a feature, not a bug.

By cheap land do you mean having the foresight to buy in the 1960s?
What are these perks you speak of? UNI actually just got a better deal on it's roads for EPIC

Well Disney could effectively rubber stamp permits and whereas UNI has to go a far more orthodox route by goingto the city to have permits approved. I'm hoping with the 'District formally known as RCID' that supervisor board uses their powers for good and block permits which will cause changes that erode culture.

My contention (again... on the strategy... not on the merits) is that this won't play much with independents one way or the other. I'm saying I think this will help in the primary, and not really matter in the general because it's a niche issue that the broader voters won't care about.
That’s a nice fantasy but it’s not reality. I live in PA (a state that actually matters in POTUS race) and we just went through an election where we had a far right Governor candidate who lost by double digits and a Senator with severe health issues who could just barely speak by Election Day who also won pretty easily. All the exit polling pointed to people not wanting these extreme candidates. People here care about healthcare and the economy and safety and social security not social crusades. None of the stuff that allegedly happens in schools in FL happens here so we don’t need crazy laws and we don’t need to ban books. So not likely people will just forget about all this once the primary is over.

but what is the scope of the new agreement they were going through today? I didn't catch the details but it sounded like another lock-in agreement. Maybe Disney forcing the district to keep using RCES?

What do you mean by erode culture? Are you in favor of government censorship?
BTW UNI also embraces June rainbows;)

To those Disney fans here who aren’t bothered by what’s happening: Are you not concerned at all about the potential long-term impact of all this nonsense on the running of the parks and the company’s creative endeavours?
I'm more of baffeled by why Desantis thinks this is going to work out of him. I'd be concerened for disneys' future if there it was possible for Destantis to win this fight. But given Disney's lawyers and ability to influence campaigns I don't think disney creative is going to be hurt in any way from this.
I'm more worried about lightning pass still being pushed

Disney couldn’t rubber stamp permits. They had to follow regulations, and had to do so before everyone in the state was required to do so.

Permits are about maintaining health, safety and welfare, not “culture.”
