The Villages. @LAKid53 will know more on the subject

I'd have to research that district as I don't live there.

Many of the districts are things like airports, ports, waste treatment, fire protection, water supply, etc. The 5 water management districts are special districts And CRAs - Community Redevelopment Agency. Many of those local government agencies provide funding to redevelop blighted areas in a city, such as an historical area or downtown, with the goal to attracting both businesses and residents.

SB 1604 - the bill to legislatively undo the Development Agreement, just got another floor amendment at 11:58 AM today. Still hasn't gone to the entire chamber for a vote.

Lol, Disney drew an Obama-appointed Judge. This is going to go really poorly for Desantis.
Well I know I’m shocked 😱
It’s true but also sad that we can guess how most “impartial” judge will rule based on who appointed them.
Well…yeah…

But let’s not do the “both sides do it…” thing this time?

Based on the last year…it’s off the rails mostly to the starboard side

Whether Florida's actions were retaliatory in nature would be a question of fact, not a question of law. If the trial court finds that the actions were, in fact, retaliatory, the current SCOTUS would rule those unconstitutional 9-0. First Amendment cases win left and right at the Supreme Court, whether it's religious liberty, speech, or a number of other things.

Extraordinarily unlikely it gets that far though.
There’s a whole lot more in there other than 1st amendment violations. The contract law portion is more of a slam dunk. It’s possible Disney only wins on some counts here and the new board stays but so does the development agreement.

It‘s also possible that this suit is a jumping off point for a negotiation where Disney and the state agree to a board setup both sides can agree on that actually does what the district is intended to do. In a year DeSantis is likely going to be a lame duck Governor with a failed presidential bid on his resume so much less powerful to “encourage” the legislature to continue this.
