Am I wrong to experience a little bit of pleasure in the latest missteps of the Board and its administrator?

Local and state executives and legislators get a prescribed salary. And yet, when they run for office, they get lots of generous gifts. Gifts to people who have some sway over the personal interests of the ones giving the gifts.

Yes, it's corrupt and needs reform. But it's not unheard of.

Any sort of criminal charge would have to prove an actual quid pro quo, which has recently been made much more difficult to do so thanks to recens SCOTUS rulings.

Believe it or not, the state of Florida has limited gifts legislators, agency heads and plain old employees can receive. Anything over $100 had to be listed on annual financial disclosure forms filed the the Secretary of State. Loans are absolutely forbidden. I couldn't accept a cup of coffee and a donut from any permittee who's permit was up for renewal.

So if gifts over $100 has to be reported ? Like a tipped waiter that made $400 in cash tips on one shift does he/she really report that?😉

I mean…that’s assuming the structure is strong enough to pay attention/force compliance with such things?

What state again?

…oh…I highly doubt it 🤪

Reporter Nick Papantonis has published portion of an e-mail sent to district employees about a benefit package change.

View attachment 738713

Paid from.....the tax revenues collected by the District.

And an added, extra benefit...stipends are considered income, but not wages, so the employees will have to calculate the amount of income tax due.

How STUPID of the Board.

Its 100 percent true that RCID employees received really, really good cast member perks such as main gate passes, extra entry tickets, food coupons, big discounts for merch at the parks etc, as RCID employees were, in effect, WDW employees.

I always thought they just gave them the perks, I never thought the perks were "paid for" by RCID moving money back to WDW. Thats interesting, apparently this is true?

In any event, I am sure CFTOD folks will gladly take the $1000 instead of the previous perks.

Technically, perks and gifts from your employer also need to be included as income (above a certain threshold).

Only certain delineated perks, such as health insurance, are benefits that doesn't get included in income. Disney passes are not one of those exemptions.

I'm sure if you really drill down into it for a "complimentary" Main Entrance Pass a hypothetical ABC News employee's legal entity - "American Broadcasting Companies Inc" - is reimbursing "Disney Worldwide Services, Inc" for benefits administration who is then reimbursing "Walt Disney Parks and Resorts U.S. Inc" for the "overhead" of running the MEP component of the program. Which apparently costs $1000 a head per annum. Even if the ticket itself has no revenue component... and before this year was considered equivalent to a $19.99 per month Disney streaming bundle.

The sad part is, having worked there, I think that number is probably correct.

Items that are part of an official benefit package would be calculated as part of wage income. The state of Florida provides all state employees term life insurance valued at 125% of your gross salary. The premium the state pays shows up as wages on the employee's pay stub. All $3 of it.

So RCID bought tickets from Disney and used them as compensation/incentives and CFTOD is big mad at Disney for selling them the tickets?

OK

And this boards solution is to give 1K perks to all while only 50% used it in the pass. Must be the new math way to save money and eliminate waste

OK

Like we've said, not the sharpest pencils in the box.

Why do I think this is in response to TWDC's filing for damages last week? 🤔

The Board continues to give Disney ammo for its case that actions taken against the company are retaliatory.

No, they weren't.

"paid for" by RCID moving money back to WDW. Thats

Not moving money.. RCID purchased the tickets as a benefit, much like many businesses in the area do.

CFTOD folks will gladly take the $1000 instead of the previous perks.

Some may, but others may not. Depends what kind of annual pass they had. The IncrediPass is over $1k and the Sorcerers pass is $969. Couple it with discounts and this could actually be a benefits cut for anyone who had made use of it.
