Thanks for reading,

I just booked a 3 days cruise trip to Bahamas (end of November), as for the flight do you guys think it's better to go with the safer route and fly a day early? I prefer a red eye flight but am afraid with possible delays and all that :(

Any ideas?

When it comes to a cruise, I ALWAYS fly in a day early. That leaves less worries about delays, weather, gives you more time to relax and do a little last minute shopping and you arrive at your cruise ready to go.

Yes! Fly in early and save yourself the stress of a last-minute rush. See if you can find a hotel with a "park and cruise" package that will give you free parking and a shuttle to your departure point.

If possible, fly in a day early for exactly the reasons you mentioned -- flight delays.

But you also save yourself in case you make a mistake, as well. One of my family members almost missed out Mexican Rivera cruise b/c he set the alarm for his red-eye flight for "2 p.m." instead of "2 a.m.". Alarm never went off (obviously), they missed their flight and had to rebook their flights while driving to the airport. All they could get was first class. They had to spend literally thousands of extra dollars to get to the port on time.

Probably should've gone the night before and paid $200 for a hotel room :)

Thanks for the suggestion. I may as well stay at the Art of the Animation. Do you know if they offer a transportation from the resort to the port? And do I have to pay extra?

Day early! Definitely!

Disney transfers will pick you up at Art of Animation. The transfers are $35 each way. It's the same price to the airport if you were planning on taking those.

The ship is not going to wait for you. You miss it, you are out of luck. Do you really want to worry about that at the start of your vacation?

Besides, if you get in a day early, you can relax and be well-rested for boarding. The last thing you want is to be tired at the start of an action-filled vacation like a cruise.

Please re-read my original post. :) I think you have me confused with someone else.

Or, if you're like my family, you can relax and get up early enough to be in the terminal by 9 am! :D

That's us too! Who can sleep when you know that ship is waiting for you? We usually get there around 10:00 am. We did that for our last cruise in May on the Allure of the Seas, expecting to beat the rush, but it seemed everyone else had the same idea!

I really need to do more reading into how the flow works boarding the Allure. That's a LOT of people to get onboard! I know the process and how it differs from DCL, just not the little details such as when the terminal opens, when boarding begins, etc. etc.

This was our second cruise on the Allure...trying to go again next year (yes, we love it that much.) If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. It really was the fastest and easiest boarding and disembarking I've ever been through. The terminal itself is unbelievable.

I assume $35/person? That's $140 total, because we're going back to WDW after the cruise.. bummer :(

Yes, $35 a person so $140 total. It is expensive, but for just two of you that's probably close to what renting a car would cost.

Yep- I have always told people that if you have 2 people, Disney transfers are cheaper. 3 people is a toss up, and for 4, a rental car is cheaper.

I happen to like rental cars because they get to the port on MY schedule, as opposed to Disneys schedule.

One other option to look at if you have 3 or more people is car service. Last I looked it was around $135 for a ride from WDW to the port. About the same as Disney transfers for 4 people.
