Based on this year's Halloween and Christmas parties, there will be 80 next year.

  • January 6, 13, 20 and 27
  • February 3, 10, 17 and 24
  • March 3, 17, 24 and 31
  • April 7 and 28
  • May 5, 12 and 19
17 after-hour parties plus 38 Halloween and 25 Christmas parties equals.......80.
The 17 after hour parties don't restrict Happily Ever After to regular guests, they play HEA at the regular time and Enchantment at 11 PM. They're not even "parties" it's just extra time in the parks with enchantment and shorter wait times, it usually doesn't effect regular park hours like the Halloween and Christmas parties do.

Agreed. I didn’t buy a park hopper on my last visit - not worth it.
Yeah, I can't see a world where I pay for a parkhopper. Looking at $200-$300 to dilute my day at Disneyland to include DCA. I also don't see me spending day ticket prices on DCA either when Disneyland is valued exactly the same, yet so superior. I really wish they would they would price DCA at like $75-$120. Instead of losing folks to Knotts, just make DCA the Disney Knotts. A little cheaper. A little less magic and things to do.

As newer experiences are added to DCA over the next 5-10 years don't you think it'll be more worth its price?

Even if you aren't a fan of what is being added you have to admit that with more being added it'll become a more well rounded park and likely worth its current price.

A well rounded park has a great show at the Hyperion, and a transportation attraction like the trolley.
"Well rounded" is going to differ per person, especially here. As there might actually be people that don't care about the Trolley or a show in the Hyperion, I know its hard to believe but its true.

But for the average guest having more to do in general is going to make it a more well rounded park and worth the price. So as they add new lands and attractions such as Avatar, Avengers E-ticket, and Coco, its going to give more for guests to consider it a full day park, and worth the price.

Disney doesn't feel the same way though about a Hyperion level show when DLR's population caters heavily to local visitors who deem these types of experiences to get stale quickly and start to ignore them, much like they did with MV3D and ITTAB.

I'm in the camp of raze the Hyperion and Animation buildings and fold that stretch into Avengers Campus.

We don’t know there will be more attractions when they are done.
We know that at least 2 new attractions are being added with no subtractions in Avengers. So that is a net gain overall.

Coco and Avatar are still a question, but its unlikely to be a net loss when both are completed. So again likely a net gain for the park overall.

So if we take away all the shows and parades and transportation but build more screen rides Disneyland is a better park?

Yes we clearly disagree on what a well rounded park is :)
And where did I say take away all shows and transportation at Disneyland?

Stop taking things to the extreme. We're talking about DCA not Disneyland or even the entire resort.

Based on the park's trajectory, DCA will never scratch itch Disneyland does for me. Even in 2015, I don't think it ever could have, even as hopeful as I was for DCA back then. Disneyland's an historical landmark, a true piece of Americana, and, most importantly, a place of childhood nostalgia. DCA will never be able to compete with that.

None of the other parks in any other the Disney Resorts around the world hold the same level with their respective Castle Park. Epcot maybe back when it first opened came close to being on the same level as MK, but none others at any resort can touch the Castle Parks.

That wasn't the discussion though. The comment was that the poster didn't currently see value in paying full price for DCA either with Park Hopper or a day ticket as it wasn't worth it to them. My question was with all that's coming doesn't that increase the value of DCA to be at least worth a Park Hopper or a day ticket. My guess is that for most people that it will, and that is my point. The intrinsic value of a park to an average guest is the number of experiences they can enjoy, ie the number of rides the park has. With an increase in the number of experiences that increases its value and thus justifies it price. Disney knows this which is why the focus recently on adding more lands and attractions to DCA.

Why discuss how the average guest feels? I'm here to offer my opinion, not speak on behalf of an ambiguous mass. Even in the case of relating this to the masses, I don't think anyone will ever choose DCA over Disneyland if the prices are equal. DCA should be a cheaper park.

Maybe but I still think that TDL is better overall. And I don't think anyone on average is picking TDS over TDL.

You seem to want to have a different discussion. This isn't about if someone would pick DCA over DL, that ain't happening and so isn't part of the discussion.

If you personally will never see value in DCA, that is fine. I however feel there is value in it (especially with what is coming in a few years) so always will pay for a ticket to spend time there when I take a trip to the resort. And by judging how full the park is a lot of times many in the masses feel the same way.

I'll confess, I've never once paid for a ticket to DCA in any form. Every visit I've been to DCA was either through a gift or a grand prize.

Possibly. I usually have some sort of pass anyways but on my recent trip Magic keys weren’t available so I had no need for a park hopper for what little I was interested in. Would have been red car trolley, cars land Halloween decorations, and the five and dime band.
