I figured you must be forward looking! The current park I’d really have a hard time supporting is better in pretty much any way than current DCA. Lion King has strong potential, but Tokyo Pan and SDL Pirates are petty hard to beat if they at all track.

WDSP is just so… ugly. I’m really disappointed in its overhaul considering the main park again is spending a decade absolutely stagnant to support it. I also don’t like Disneyland Paris as much as you do and I think as much as DCA limps along on Disneylands back, WDSP would have closed up long ago if not for DLP.

But DCA might be the runner up for last these days. As far as Disney parks are concerned. I’m kind of surprised DHS has found a small soul.

How would you compare Tokyo Pan to Transformers? I’m thinking that the Avengers ride might end up feeling more hectic and disorienting like the Transformers ride considering the IP.

I like Pan more. I do enjoy transformers though. I just enjoy the execution and pacing of Pan, something I find Universal has a hard time figuring out. Their attractions basically take two seconds before the chaos starts, splash you in the face and clap for you at the end. Things like Flight of Passage and Pan allow you moments to breath and sort of take in the wonder mid-ride.

The thing about Pan is it’s just so much longer than it has any right to really be and that’s what really impresses me. They definitely could have not included the return to London. They really could have cut the return to Neverland. I have no idea if Avengers will follow, but I expect and hope it is allowed the same generous ride time.

Sounds like I would enjoy Tokyo Pan. The Transformers ride is just a bit chaotic for me. It doesn’t make me sick. It just kind of annoys me and isn’t my cup of tea. It’s also a shame that it doesn’t have one scene like the AT AT scene in ROTR where you could feel the immense size of Megatron or whatever the bad robot is called.

Not to be a major contrarian, but I just loved Beauty and the Beast and Pan. Frozen is fine, I think I expected it to be something more than a splashy FEA v. 3.0. Contrary to popular opinion I already think FEA is quite good and Hong Kong seems to have perfected it.

Beauty and the Beast is just quite a bit different (I like different) than your typical dark ride. It’s basically a giant dance and musical numbers. While there is criticism that it lingers too long, that’s what I really liked about it. Frozen goes the other direction and tries to pack the entire thing in.

Riders always clapped at the end of B&TB and Pan, which I think is telling. But don’t get me wrong, this is a case of picking my favourite of three rather good things.

What's so hard to understand? I said parks I'd like to visit, not what's the worst on paper.

I might feel differently if I lived within a certain ZIP code and could qualify for a cheap AP that includes DCA admission.

It's increasingly harder for me to justify paying full price to visit DCA, use a full day of a multi-day ticket, or pay for the park hopper upgrade.
I'm with you on this one. My last two trips to the DLR were two-day trips and I exclusively did DL only. I haven't stepped inside DCA for over a year now.

As I get older, Incredicoaster and GotG get harder to do. I don't care about AC or its upcoming new rides. I don't care about food festivals or OBB. There just isn't enough for me to do there to justify the increased price on a park hopper and I can't currently justify a single-day ticket for that park.

Things will probably change when Avatar and Coco arrive. Until then I'll probably continue to just visit DL on my trips.

When you ask where would I eat, I almost jokingly replied the McDonald's in Disney Village, but then I remembered the Frozen counter service, the lakefront restaurant and the redo of Studio 1 are all opening soon too. Plus their AC has the buffet version of PYM and the revised quick serve and small diner.

When I first visited the park in 2013 there was Studio 1, the buffet and that was it. Backlot Cafe was closed so I could not appreciate the immersive High School Musical cafeteria theming.

Don't disagree with you on this.

Oh yes, I’m much more willing to talk 2028(?9) DAW compared to today’s DCA. Food and night entertainment and something pretty (a lake) to look at are all going to work overtime.

I think we first visited around the same time and I was kind of embarrassed to have dragged friends away from Paris to see it. It was distinctly that we could not find food that stuck with me. I think even the Joffreys style carts were closed. We probably did eat at McDonald’s 😂

I wasn’t high on BatB when i saw the first ride through. I think I wanted a little more suspense and some more intimate spaces. But once I settled on the fact that it’s a giant sing along it changed my perception of the ride. They basically took what Little Mermaid did but made it much more fun and grand. And unlike TBA, I don’t feel robbed for not having an encounter with Gaston. Facilier was made for a dark ride. Gaston not so much. I mean they could have made it work but I don’t feel like I’m missing out.

Yea the ride through I watched for Tokyo Frozen left me a bit cold. Pun not intended. Some impressive effects but a lot of came off to me like a daytime soap opera. I don’t think those intimate little moments between two characters work for this medium. I agree that it appears Hong Kong’s version is the sweet spot.

There are 63 party nights at MK this year, not 80. 83% of nights have normal fireworks

DLR:
Jan-May: 43% fireworks
Jun-Aug: 100% fireworks
Sept-Oct: 43% fireworks
Nov-Dec: 100% Fireworks

71% Fireworks nights on average

83%>71%. Also WDW has two nighttime spectaculars that run 365 days a year, when’s the last time WOC ran 365 days?

Carthay sucked since they lost the cheddar biscuits
Hot take, Carthay has always been just fine for me. The decor and ambiance far surpass the food, and honestly? Blue Bayou probably has better ambiance. Napa Rose is the only high-end DLR restaurant that has continually impressed me-and even that one didn't live up to previous visits last time around.
What!? They don’t have the cheddar biscuits anymore? Even if you sit inside upstairs instead of the alfresco dining with the limited menu?
They definitely haven't been there since the pandemic. They may have even disappeared before that in all honesty. I only had them once (and honestly, wasn't a fan).

My one and only time eating there was 10 years ago. The biscuits and pork chop were all the rage. I remember being disappointed by the pork chop. Hard to believe I ordered a pork chop over a nice steak. I don’t remember loving it. Probably why we never went back. But the biscuits were what everyone always talked about.

Going back to the Red Car Trolley closing, my current thought on if it is permanent or if a new barn gets built will be based on the trolley wire remaining. We know that PTN lost the Frozen float because it was too tall for the Trolley wires back in 2018. If the Red Car Trolley isn't planning to be an attraction again, I can see Disney removing the wires so larger floats can fit down the parade route

The wires are fake so they’re probably not too much of an indicator.

I know they're fake, but the Red Car Trolleys are still connected to them for aesthetic reasons. I', saying that if Disney wanted a larger parade, they'd get rid of the wires if there was no chance of the Trolley's operating as an attraction again

Based on this year's Halloween and Christmas parties, there will be 80 next year.

  • January 6, 13, 20 and 27
  • February 3, 10, 17 and 24
  • March 3, 17, 24 and 31
  • April 7 and 28
  • May 5, 12 and 19
17 after-hour parties plus 38 Halloween and 25 Christmas parties equals.......80.
