Record numbers of South American tour groups expected this summer

It is almost summer, and I understand from people involved that this year WDW are expecting record numbers (in excess of the late 90s numbers) of young tour groups from South America. The season kicks off in a couple of weeks and runs through until August.

Through August or Until August? We Check in 8/21 and are hoping for smaller crowds. One of the main reasons we booked then.

We have been the past 2 years around this time and we have not seen that many and will be checking in 8/19!! So I would assume until August!

Late August is the end of the tour group season this year

Geez. And I thought they were everywhere last year.... This year I will not hesitate to switch parks if I see a lot of them. For some reason all the groups seem to congregate in one park any given day.

It is usually around the summer, as this corresponds to their winter. I'm sure there is some variation however.

I'm really glad that I will not be there this summer. Or any summer. I will only visit WDW after August in the future, summer is now far too hot for me.

Don't panic... I was at Disney last July ( going again this July :soapyand although there were many Brazilians grouped together throughout the parks, I managed very well. I just saw which direction they were headed towards and went the opposite way. I found them to be noisy but not obnoxious like others have reported on other posts. Worst place I encountered them was in front of the Castle prior to fireworks. Then there was a sea of colored shirts that you couldn't escape from, had to put up with their singing for a while.

if you come across any of the groups at night back in your hotel's cafeteria area note how many of them just get mac & cheese.. someone should do a sociocultural dissertation on the subject..

one time last summer I was watching a hollywood studios street performances by a former adventurers club cast member who, while one of the groups walked by, told all of us watching on the count of 3 to yell "viva brazil".. the result was mind-blowing.

Just one more reason I will only stay Deluxe at Disney. Don't have to deal with the tour groups at the resort or on the buses back to the resort.

Come to think of it - when I think value resort, I DO think tour groups and cheerleaders...
