Was Josh meant to be in those pictures with Jeff, or is he photo-bombing?

Anyway, what's most important is that Jeff's shirt is too baggy. He needs a trim fit. It's also too sheer. But he's brave for wearing an undershirt in the Florida heat.

So tell us more about these two new leaders- not the Disney PR stuff. Who are they?

Josh D’Amaro has risen through parks and resorts like a torpedo. He was vp of Animal Kingdom in 2014, then head of transportation, then president of DL, then wdw, and now DPEP. Jeff Valve was head of upcharge experiences, which people are moaning about, but hey... can’t fault him for doing his job.

Mr. Potrock seems to be an unknown. A stealth exec in Disney's vast sea of a few hundred upper-middle executives.

He was the head of consumer products! Just like the beloved Bob Chapek!

He also led marketing for DCL and led the Disney Springs project so at least he’s stepped outside before. Both of those have been quite successful too.

I appreciate the background info, but...

The Disney Springs project is something that was in development for over a decade (How do I get to Hyperion Wharf?) and Mr. Potrock was in that Disney Springs role for a relatively short time. I'm reminded of Lee Iacoca's famous line about being the father of the Ford Mustang; there were so many fathers for Disney Springs that I would hate to see the mother.

And honestly, building and being the property manager of a big cheesy shopping mall full of overpriced corporate restaurants and retail in a mega tourist trap like Disney World is like shooting fish in a barrel. You'd have to be really, really bad at your job to screw that up.

I'd love to know what Mr. Potrock has done over his career that makes him uniquely suited to lead the Disneyland Resort out of the darkest days in its 65 year history. What does Mr. Potrock bring to the table that makes him the right man for that monumental job? And how does he manage 30,000 extremely anxious Cast Members and 20 Million worried customers?

I’m no expert, but the folks in charge of the initial Hyperion Wharf clearly missed the fish in the barrel. And getting tenants lined up for the rate you’d like isn’t necessarily easier in a high-demand location, because the economics are just scaled up. Disney Springs aimed to get far more new tenants than Hyperion Wharf at a pretty nice rate and succeeded. That’s no shining achievement but it’s enough to get someone promoted.

His experience in getting people and businesses on board with previously failed/nonexistent entities seems somewhat relevant to the current situation. He’s no angel. I think Disney Springs is really well done but the Bora Bora addition to the Polynesian isn’t. So who knows. At the very least he’ll be better than Cynthia Harris!

I agree with you there.

And while that is a rather low bar to set, at least it's a standard that I'm sure Mr. Potrock will meet.

At the very least, it should be fun to watch. I wonder what his corporate Instagram account will be like? Will they keep enough TDA cubicle drones on staff this fall to keep that going for him? Here's hoping! :D

I just checked, out of curiosity. He does have a verified Instagram account, but it’s set to private 😄 (which means people can’t see his posts unless they request to follow him and he accepts). And he only has 60 followers. And one post. I can guarantee you nobody is wasting their time managing that for him!

Mr. D’Amaro does manage his own account by the way.

Jeff the new WDW President spent most of his career in charge of Facilities and Engineering at WDW.
