Perhaps you didn't read carefully - Grauman's Chinese Theatre cannot be the icon, because it infringes on a copyright. I heard from someone that the Imagineers who designed the hat originally had it (in the concept art) as being either where the animation arch is now, or at crossroads (map kiosk at the park entrance), and it was moved to where it is now to avoid a legal confrontation. In the words of the kinks, "it's a legal matter, baby..."

I totally agree, although I've only visited wdw since the wand has been there. I would be really disappointed if they remove it!

no more biased than the people who have started a new thread about how "this is the week that the wand comes down" every week since January 1, 2001. The difference is that Corrus has been right in the 6 years that this foolishness has gone on.

How about turning the arm and wand into Harry Potter's arm and wand. Then we could paint SSE gold and attach some wings and have a giant golden snitch...

I don't think its possible, you padded your big ball and wand stats so much in the big ball and wand thread that your lead is pretty comfortable.

Now, I like the character, but I just had a funny image pop in my head with your comment. Just picture a lightsaber going through his midsection and he explodes into nothing but a cloud of blue fuzz, the sound effect makes it too.

Ok, I think a lot of you complain too much...
...I am fine with the wand - it looks awesome at night... though it is probably time for it to go since Spaceship Earth is such a unique structure in itself.
I am fine with the hat... it also looks amazing at night. I don't care if theres just a store in it... what else can you put under a hat?? Every single guest with a camera stops to take a picture of themselves in front of each park's icon... and since they can't use the Chinese Theater, the hat makes perfect sense. Especially since you can only see the Earful Tower while on the Backlot Tour or from World Drive.
and even though the celebrations annoy me, I think this is one of the best ones they've done so far. Instead of celebrating some meaningless date (The Happiest Celebration on Earth was supposed to be for Disneyland's 50th anniversary... I mean come on), this celebration encompases all that WDW has represented all along. Its not just Disney nuts who are excited about it... any guest who is returning can get into it.

That sure is a far stretch for a rumor. The whole structure is solid iron girders. The only thing it may need, like everything else, is paint.
Maybe they will change out the design but I dont see it coming down.

See now this is great we are communicating! I like the wand, I like the big ball, i like them together. They are the SUPER COUPLE of EPCOT. BUT, change is good. Maybe they can do something ultra meggggggaaaaa cool with the big ball. I dont know what though, I will leave that to the Jeanyus ImanjenEARS to thinc up!
