I have done a Disney trip in August and I know to expect rain...heck, a few years ago I was there and a Tropical Storm checked in to the resort and loved it so much it stayed for the better part of a week.

Sounds like the people behind the scenes had a lot to scramble to fix last night.....made for an interesting work shift....

Like other posters, it would be fun to be walked off a ride. Something to experience, I guess!

My cousin is in the area, but went to visit in-laws and missed the big storm. I would have liked to have been there to see it all in action, actually. Is that strange?

Not at all! Haha. Would be an interesting experience as long as we're safe

When the boys were still in grade school, we used to travel the last week of August/first week of September.
I have seen lots of rain at WDW. I have witnessed torrential downpours. Heck, we were there for: Katrina, Lee, Maria, Nate and Ophelia (all in one trip!), but never did we witness the extent of which apparently happened last night.

Being evacuated is not a lot of fun. First, you sit there for a long time. Usually, someone comes by to tell you that they're having technical difficulties, in case you hadn't figured that out from the sitting there and not moving. They usually don't stop the soundtrack and depending where you are, it becomes quite maddening after about fifteen minutes of the same noises.

Finally, they come and say they're taking you out. You get out and walk away - I've never seen anything interesting - and they give you a FP to use later, but it can be used on any ride.

So, for those disappointed by never being evacuated, there it is. IMO, anyway. :)

HEY AT LEAST IT WAS A BOLT OF LIGHTNING. LAST WEEK AT UNIVERSAL THEY HAD POWER OUTAGES THAT HAD NO LIGHTNING OR RAIN. THE AC IN MOST AREAS SUKED. I BELIEVE IT WAS JUST TOO HOT FOR UP TO ABSORB THE USAGE UNLIKE DISNEY I DO NOT BELIEVE THEY HAVE THEIR OWN ELECTRICAL SUB STATION ON SITE.

Was stuck on Monorail Gold during the rainstorm yesterday, man was it coming down. We finally got to the TTC and were asked by the Monorail pilot to stay on board. Two seconds later the power died on the Monorail and the security by then had arrived to get everyone safely off the monorail and under better cover. It really rained good yesterday, got totally soaked.
