Really wet MK 8/18 with power outages

At PORS right now. The mansion halls are all quite flooded. Some places over an inch deep!

Couple of updates....

Everything looked OK when I left GFla at 11. Monorail was running, nothing obvious. Heard from other park guests that the Castle did go dark and based on crowdsourcing from twitter, looks like that lasted longer than 5-10 minutes.

Studios went dark for a few minutes. Heard from a few cast members that they saw lightning strike something in the direction of Caribbean Beach (if you were at DHS) before everything went dark.

It was a resort wide power glitch due to a lightning strike. Epcot and AK were affected also, but not as much because most things were already closed.

How sad is it that the most interesting thing I've read on these boards in quite some time is the real time reporting of a power failure and how it was perceived from different viewpoints from across the property. However, pretty interesting

Lightning strike hit inside the property around 9:30pm resulting in a massive power glitch/power outage that affected the entire Walt Disney World Resort. The blackout didn't affect areas for very long lasting anywhere from a split second to a few minutes. At Magic Kingdom, BGM cut out and almost all (not every) ride or show was affected with some being affected more than others. Most rides systems detected the glitch and shut down requiring maintenance teams to scatter to reset computer systems. Carousel of Progress and Pirates of the Caribbean didn't reopen for the evening. Space Mountain was experiencing issues all throughout the day. By 10pm most attractions were in the process of being reset or being evacuated. The first electrical parade was canceled, the fireworks were delayed until close to 11pm, and the last electrical parade was close to 11:30pm. Everything was back to normal by then with a few attractions still recovering here and there.

I was on POTC when the power went out. We got walked off, though I didn't mind because I'm a geek whose always wanted to be walked off a ride lol.

Yep, that's the true Disney Geek fantasy - getting walked off a ride.
Even better if all the lights are on and you get to see cool, behind the scenes stuff.

It happened to us a couple of years ago on BTMR.

Perhaps you're right, but personally I find this resort wide "event" to be infinitely more interesting than arguing over smart soda cups and what might be announced at some point regarding potential projects that may start next decade (hyperbole added for effect)

Additionally, it was raining hard, yes, but the amount of lightning strikes yesterday was unreasonably high. It was one of those storms where every other second the sky was lighting up.
