Does stuff like this happen often?? I've been in WDW when the rain was much heavier and had a longer duration but nothing to this extent has happened in my visits

We were just pulling up to the exit on the Peoplemover when the lightening hit. Everything flickered and stopped. The doors to our ride vehicle were open so they let us walk down the ramp. We stood in the ECV/stroller area right near the bottom of the down ramp for an hour. The water between where we were and the front of Buzz was flooded to over your shoes.

They delayed the fireworks but by that time we were soaked and headed out. We got back to the Music just as the gift shop was closing the gate and the CMs asked us where we were when the power went out and they said the power at the Music had briefly been out too.

When that lightening struck there was just a collective gasp/scream (or to quote my daughter "Holy Crap!") from everyone around us. It was one of those that you still saw when you closed your eyes. I give props to the bus crew working at MK. They were really working to get everyone out.

They have generators, right? It's not going to be totally dark, is it?

These forums are so up-to-date! You could be in China and still know everything as it happens. You guys rock. :)
It was weird! It seemed to go black for a few seconds then the only thing on was the lights. No digital clock screens. No sound of anything but heavy rain. We had just exited the Peoplemover when everything stopped. AND we had only decided to ride the Peoplemover because Space Mountain had been down part of the day. They had all the inner lights on and I was trying to get pictures. (On a side note Splash was also down part of the day too.)
