RAPID FILL MUGS

All the talk about the rapid fill mugs have gotten out of hand. Just think for Disney to be so cheap as to try and block guest from using the drink machines, just think how cheap those drinks are. Soda fountain drinks containers are so cheap that one canister can serve about 175 to 250 drinks. Most of the mugs that are used are already given away when you purchase the meal plan so come on DISNEY go back to your old ways! Most guests don't stand by the machines and just guzzle drinks all day.

Don't drink soft drinks anyway. Never seen anyone abuse drinks. Most of the mugs that I see adults using are for coffee in the morning. Kids might get 1 or 2 drinks but to lug them around all day I think not.

Oh goodie, another thread bound to devolve into p&m theatre....

To be honest, I find the situation pretty funny. I guarantee you that they wouldn't spend money implementing such a complex solution if it wasn't a problem or there wasn't room for making or saving money - you can be sure there was a business case and ROI involved. BUT, the fact that it was even a PROBLEM is both fantastically comical and abysmally sad at the same time.

Let's not stop there... I want free park admission if I stay in one of those overpriced hotels. I mean come on Disney, how cheap can you get? OK, sometimes you give out free dining, but, if you can do it once you can do it all the time. So if I stay onsite, I don't think it is to much to ask for free soft drinks, free meals and free park admission. However, we cannot totally ignore the offsite guests since they pay for the park experience, they ought to get at least their meals free and perhaps a certificate for $100.00 worth of free souvenirs.

I disagree with this business' rules and revenue-generating practices, so instead, I'm just going to steal their product! Who's with me??????

Please close this thread and ban the OP troll.

I do not think that is fair - there is an extended thread with people (including myself) that disagree with rapid refill so then we should all be banned?

I used the new mugs last Dec a the WL. Had no issues with them working at all, did not impact my use at all. So based on my experience, I see no issue with the decision by Disney. The way I see it the only ones that would be bothered by this are people trying to get one over on the system, If you had problems using them correctly, then the issue is with the execution of the mugs but so far most people are complaining about the rational and not the fact that their mugs didn't work.

I have seen a few people referencing the mugs not working but it seems like they are referencing things they heard versus their own experience. I am referencing my own personal experience.

Then take this to that other thread. If that thread is closed, take a hint and don't fire up the Sherman Smarta** tanks and roll for the front lines of another free refill/RFID mug debate war. No. You shouldn't be banned. But don't start another useless and pointless thread that you know WILL devolve into chaos.

I guess it would depend on why you disagree with rapid refill. If it's because you cannot have all you want whenever you want, because three within a 6 minute period isn't enough, or because you think that they should be free because, well just because. I can think of no reason why anyone would think that more then that is justified or that a business that is there to sell goods and services should just give away their product. It may be true that Disney doesn't pay a high price for its soft drink mixes, but, I think you can rest assured that they do pay something and that Coke Cola is not in business to give away product either. Look at it this way, you pay for the first one and the other two, per sitting, is free. They don't even have to do that and since they are in the business to make a profit there is no reason to think that they shouldn't make one.

Blame those that felt that they could come back for years and leach off the same old cup for the crackdown. If any of you are one of those... then you only need a mirror to find out who to blame.

But I honestly I do not think this was to block people reusing old cups. I agree this was a business decision but it was a decision to increase revenue in food and beverage at the resorts.

It was more to stop the continued use of older mugs for freeloaders, and the absolutely INSANE garbage of using convenience store cups, 2-liter bottles, old milk jugs, and various other containers. I used to see at least one person per vacation using a milk jug. And they looked at anyone who stared at them like the other person was the one with the problem. One CM actually tried to stop this family back in 2010 during our trip. The mother and father were filling 2-liter bottles full with soft drinks. When the CM came to them they said "just a second. We're almost done." Really?!?!?!? They should have had the drinks slapped from their hands and been escorted off property. Not for stealing the soft drinks (That's just tacky and stupid), but for acting like the CM had the problem and being so damn arrogant about it.

So did this faux rage get inspired by something specific or was this a random rage at Disney post?

I would agree. To a extent - the CMs that man the drink stations are powerless compared to a "guest" unless a manager was involved. I remember this one woman filled an igloo (the drink kind) with soda - I was livid. LOL

My wife and I went into The Electric Umbrella a few years back to have lunch. I'm not particularly fond of standing in line so I chose to hang back while my wife ordered our food. I stood by the soda station by the entrance for about 15 minutes and I witnessed at least 10 people who just popped in the door and filled whatever cup or containers they had from the drink station. A couple did just get water, but most filled up their bottles, cups or thermoses with Coke products and just walked right back out the door. This, my friends, is one of the reasons why they changed the system to limited refills with chips in the cups.
