Rapid Fill Mug Program Fails (at more ways than you might think)

Since when is 8 days a couple? Also, what about 7DMT in two or three days? What if I'm working that morning and can't rope drop? You're not refuting anything, you're just trivializing my very valid criticism to suit your own personal agenda.
I got three FP's the day before my visit. Then I got a 7DMT and Haunted Mansion on the same day. I was there at the time. So it can happen.

So I wanted to stay out of this, but just can't. At no point did I state that the new system is any more equal than the one before it. Neither system is perfect, and no one system will ever be. My statement was that having lived under no FP, old FP, and new FP+, we prefer the new FP+ to any of it. Just our personal belief, and no one else that doesn't like it is wrong - except when they state that there is no availability on short notice.

I responded to a statement was made that there was NO availability for FP+ just a few days out, and the fact is that there are only 2 attractions right now that FP+ is not available for. That poster is a local, and I cannot believe that there isn't one single day of the week that he/she cannot get to a park at rope drop to ride 7DMT or FEA with little to no wait.

If you had read the rest of my posts, you would see that I had already acknowledged that I accidentally put the thoughts of 2 different posters (you and jakeman) into one response. My quote in your response indicates it was after I went back and edited that post, so you responded after I made that clarification to jakeman a few posts below mine. You did not make any statement about equality...jakeman did, which is where that part of my post came from.

As I said to jakeman, I apologize for the mixup.

Look, if you're going to be level-headed and reasonable and willing to retract statements, I'm not sure we're going to be able to appropriately internet fight... ;)
Lol :) I can go back and retract the retraction.... ;)

I'm sure there was hyperbole with regards to the legacy FP system, but I've been around here a while and I don't recall it ever coming close to the dogmatic opposition to FP+, especially with the erroneous talking point of 6 month planning being a requirement for even a modicum of enjoy at WDW.
I am newer to WDW Magic (lurked for a bit before recently joining), but the hyperbole I spoke of regarding legacy FP was definitely rampant on the other Disney board I've frequented for years. It was definitely right up there at the same level with the FP+ comments that you're referring to.

I don't get out much, so I'll take your word for it. :D

Glad you found your way here!

So when did you refill your mug???
Didn't... I have never been suckered into buying one. I've only stayed onsite once in 34 years, so I, thankfully, didn't qualify. The one time that I did stay onsite, the mug was included in the cost. Hardly ever used it. It just wasn't worth the effort to walk from my room to the food court, so I went to Publix and bought some soft drinks and brought them back to the room. I did use the mug to drink that stuff with though.

I've had one twice, both times mine had coffee in it, maybe Powerade on a single occasion. To be honest, I don't even know how many ounces they hold.
After all of these pages, I'd love to know how often "most" people actually use them.
More than twice per day? For soda?

I think a reserve pool should be created with n% of FP+ overall availability that should release at 7AM every morning

I think there is same-day FP availability held back, so if you decide that morning you can open the app and get some FPs. But the amount held back for the popular rides won't last long (so maybe only 200 FPs for mine train for example).
But slowly dripping out the FPs over 60 days would be a nightmare, you would for some rides only be offering 100 FPs each day so rather than logging on at 60/30 days and booking you would need to check every single day to see what is available.

We typically have them with our dining plan (at a hefty discount), and they get used every morning, some evenings, and any of the afternoons we spend at the resort's pool.

As an early riser in a household of late sleepers, I enjoy waking up and taking a quiet walk down to the QS dining spot to get my wife and I some coffee.

I'll check again at 7AM to see if anything opens up but here's what's currently unavailable.

Edit: 7AM came and went, no change.

I'll answer and maybe we can save this from becoming another FP+ MM+ love hate it's great it is terrible discussion...

Wife and I went for our Honeymoon Nov of 2015 stayed at AK. We got up every morning and had breakfast at the Mara. We would get our meal and fill our mugs up. Coffee first and when breakfast was done soda for the trip to the park. We would pack our mugs away (always have to have a bag wife is type 1 diabetic, so not much inconvienince for us) and enjoy the park. On our way back we would fill up and if needed I would run down later in the evening for a refill. So on average we may have refilled 3-4 times a day even more depending on the schedule.

So the Mountains were still available at 7am? If so, I also wonder about the time slots. Because FP+ isn't just about availability, it's about the times available. I know that was true for legacy also.

When we went in 2014, I recall thinking that they set aside same day availability. We had 1 fp+ time we wanted to change (A&e meet and greet in mk, iirc). We were there for RD, and as soon as the park opened I tried changing the fp time. I tried for about 5-10 mins, and no times ever opened up. I am not sure that they set fp+ aside for day guests, unless maybe they're only accessible from kiosks.

I think you might be right. The reservation pool may be reserved for the kiosks.

I know it was originally designed as the backend db for a cloud computing stack that never materialized, but I don't know who that stack was being developed for.

Development was funded by IN-Q-TEL the US Govt's captive tech company who sources hardware and software for 'Three Letter Agencies'

The mythical cloud computing stack was just a 'beard' for the actual customers

Back to the topic, I used the mugs on several trips with free dining. Just like others have said, morning Nescafe (blech) was the primary use. I'm glad the RFID is biting Disney in the butt, because I don't think Disney ever lost money on their resort soda fountains, they were just trying to squeeze more money out of the guests.
