Rapid Fill Mug Program Fails (at more ways than you might think)

I just googled out of curiosity.. 5 cans of coke would be 1255 calories, 170g of sugar.
12 ounces of coke per can.
Not sure how big the cups are.. but wow, that would be one sugar high.lol.

There's a guy in my office who drinks one of those 64 ounce Big Gulp jugs full of Mt. Dew every morning. I wonder if he's ever done the math on that...

the whole thing is stupid... Soda costs a fraction of a penny...
it is chasing down a less than a penny loss

So Disney and McDonalds and other large users will get a significant discount, so this pricing won't be perfect...

But on Amazon, you can get 2.5 gallons of Coke syrup for $79. https://www.amazon.com/Coke-Classic-Soda-Syrup-Gallon/dp/B00HE42V8Y

Don't forget there is also the cost of carbon dioxide, filters and water.

2.5 gallons of syrup at 5 water to 1 syrup gives 12.5 gallons of Coke or 1921oz, so on a 20oz serve thats 96 servings.

So at $79 per box of syrup its 82 cents a serving. Of course wholesale will be a LOT less than this price on Amazon, but even if its 90% cheaper thats still 8 cents. So not quite a fraction of a penny. and still need to add cost of carbon dioxide and filters etc. Then of course building overheads, ice machine ruining costs, staffing/cast, delivery and everything else.

That's still over $100k a day for syrup at MK alone. They were probably tossing a good chunk of that down the milk jugs and 2 liter bottles people were using.

How's his teeth? My wife had to have all four top front teeth replaced with implants because of that stuff. She brushes and flosses daily but also drank Mt. Dew since she was little nearly every day. Her front teeth were turning gray and she went into the dentist and asked them why this was happening. They did x-rays and found that her teeth were getting destroyed from something. They finally found out that she was drinking Mt. Dew and suggested that it was the cause. Then she told them how much she drank and that is when they knew it for sure. Needless to say she drinks only water now with the very occasional Sprite.

At some point someone had to present a cost analyst of implementing the RFID cups and machines. The VP's would have never approved the funding for the project unless it was a significant cost savings. It is not always about squeezing another penny out of the customer. Sometimes it is about cost savings and the RFID is value added because the customer is willing to pay for it. Six Sigma at it's finest.

True, I was thinking more of the caffeine high.

Again though, its a mis-conception that espresso has a lot of caffeine. Because it goes through the ground coffee under pressure, there is less contact with the water. A single espresso is about 75mg caffeine. For brewed (drip) coffee the water spends a lot more time with the grounds in the filter basket so more of the caffeine comes out into the coffee. A tall filter coffee is about 260mg caffeine. Therefore the four shots of espresso is still only about the same as a grande drip coffee.

Coffee is very very low calorie, maybe 5-10kcal a shot. All the bad stuff is in the milk, syrup, cream and sugar added.

Yep. The bad part is the white mocha syrup.. the caloric content is still high, but no where near what it would be with the fat milk and whipped cream.. I absolutely hate drinking my calories.. a latte is the only time per day that I do it, typically.. there are exceptions, like my Sunday evening glass of chianti.lol

I'm immune now. No joke I can drink a latte and go to sleep shortly after. I'm a coffee addict. I have my own Verismo in my office so I don't have to drink Nescafé.lol I can't even count how many cups I drink.

When I'm at Disney- my rapid refill mugs only have coffee or water in them.

I used to work at Starbucks in undergrad, so I understand haha.
Are the refill mugs only valid for a certain amount of time? Never looked into it.

I think only during your registered stay.. but I added a total of 2 nights in 2015 while we were there, same day first 1 night, then the next day added one more. I asked if my mugs would still work- was told yes, and luckily they did.
Those 2 nights were at a different resort than we were originally stayed at.. so even with the switch they were fine.

Ah, so it's a resort only thing. Which counts me out, lol. Out of curiosity, how much do they cost per day?
