Rach&Eric's Disneymoon fun/May 2011 TR

May 7th - Arrival/Downtown Disney

Well we got back from a great trip yesterday. The weather was awesome the whole time other than one little half hour on our last night there when a Thunder Storm rolled in...maybe to reflect our moods

So a quick recap before I start. Eric and I got married on April 9th and this was our honeymoon, uh Disneymoon. We were there from May 7th - 14th and staying at POFQ. On May 6th we left after work and drove 3 hours to Bangor, Maine where we were taking the plane from there the morning after. I got no sleep...I tried, I really did, but come on. We were going to be in WDW the day after, who can sleep? Our flights were uneventful and we got to Orlando International about 25 minutes before our scheduled arrival.

The line to DME looked pretty long, but we were through and seated on a bus within 20 minutes.

Oh what a beautiful sight
IMG_0053.jpg

POFQ was the third stop, but I didn't mind, I was finally back and it felt great. We got to the resort and the online Check-in was very quick, we got through in less than 10 minutes and, even better, our room was ready!

Our room was great and during Illuminations we could step out and see the fireworks portions of the show. Here are a few pics of the room

We quickly got changed and headed for the boat to DD. We had dinner reservations at

IMG_0072.jpg

We were seated right next to an aquarium
IMG_0069.jpg

Ok, so we had a couple hours before our ADR so we went in a few shops and then discovered the Margarita stand....let's have a drink. Eric got a beer and I tried the "feature margarita" a very delicious Grapefruit Margarita. Now here's something you need to know, although I do drink I don't do it a lot...so needless to say I'm a cheap drunk. That baby had my lips numb in a matter of minutes and I was half in the bag by the time I went up to that podium to check in for dinner. I'm not super short but I'm not exactly tall either, the only thing the girl checking us in could see was my eyes and up. What transpired after I blame on the margarita. As we're patiently waiting for her to bring up the ADR I lean over and kiss the podium. Our conversation goes as follows:

Eric: Did you just kiss that thing?
Me: No ***break out in fit of giggles*** maybe
Eric: Oooookkkaaaayyyy, no more margaritas for you

Says the guy who after 1 beer looks at an aquarium like this

After dinner we went into a few more shops but then decided to call it a night as we were both really tired. The next day we were going to Epcot!

Thank you so much, I should be able to finish it in a decent amount of time if nothing gets in the way!

May 8th - Epcot aka My favorite ride is the one in Germany

Today we woke up and got ready for Epcot. Breakfast was at our resort and we quickly made our way to catch the bus. Speaking of transportation, we had no problems at all with buses throughout our whole trip. Literally no more than maybe a 10 minute wait. Even taking the boat to Downtown Disney wasn't much of a wait. With that said we still got to Epcot around 10 am.

IMG_0081.jpg

We get to Epcot and head straight to Soarin'. I was thinking of getting a Fast Pass and then go to Test Track. However there was a 20 minute wait so I decided to jump in line instead. We waited maybe 10 minutes, great ride as usual. After Soarin' we headed to The Land and then decided to start making our way to Canada for our lunch ADR's at Le Cellier.

IMG_0092.jpg

IMG_0093.jpg

But first we did O'Canada. I do love that attraction. Then it was lunch time.

I had the Open-faced Cheese Steak Sandwich
IMG_0101.jpg

Lunch was really good, I loved mine and Eric said his burger was delicious, however the service was only so-so. I do think it's because that restaurant is so packed they just try to get you in and out of there as fast as they can. Notice I don't have a pic of Eric's plate...poor guy thought I was weird enough taking pics of mine so I figured I'd leave his alone.

After lunch we meandered to the UK
IMG_0104.jpg

and ran into a few World Showcase players
IMG_0107.jpg

where yours truly was chosen to play the Evil Wizard what's-his-name
IMG_0115.jpg

Off to France! But here are a few pics along the way

In France we watched Impressions de France. I had never seen it before so I'm glad we did it.

A quick pic while we waited for Impressions de France
IMG_0125.jpg

Then we were off to Morocco

IMG_0130.jpg

IMG_0131.jpg

We went through Morocco fairly quickly and then found ourselves in Japan

IMG_0134.jpg

IMG_0138.jpg

Japan was fairly quick as well, we went through the shop there, I considered doing the pick a pearl thing but didn't end up doing it. So off we went to Italy.

IMG_0140.jpg

IMG_0141.jpg

We watched a mime there and I drooled over the smells coming from Via Napoli but we weren't eating there this trip, maybe next time. Besides I had promised Eric we could sit down in Germany.

When I asked him what his favorite attraction was in Epcot he said it was the one in Germany with the beer

A few more pics from Germany

IMG_0149.jpg

IMG_0142.jpg

I didn't end up getting any of these, but I did get a chocolate caramel brownie....mmmm
IMG_0148.jpg

Moving on we were cut off at the bridge while we watched the globe for Illuminations go by

IMG_0157.jpg

Then on to China

IMG_0158.jpg

IMG_0162.jpg

We watched Reflections of China...another that I had never seen. I quite enjoyed this one, very beautiful. I liked the little rice bowls they have in the shop, but didn't buy anything. So off we were again and this time to Norway.

IMG_0164.jpg

Maelstrom had something like a 30 minute wait so we decided to skip it. Besides, I couldn't have Eric experience everything on this trip, he wouldn't have anything new on the next one...hehehehe

Of course after Norway is Mexico

IMG_0168.jpg

IMG_0167.jpg

We went in the temple but didn't ride the Gran Fiesta Tour and had a quick supper at La Cantina. Then we were off to Future World to finish up a few things we hadn't been able to get to that morning.

First up......

Uh, well Test Track...go figure the one pic he takes of the ride are the tools inside
IMG_2224.jpg

Then we went to find a little fishy

IMG_0172.jpg

Oh no, Bruce is eating Eric...lol
IMG_0173.jpg

Then we did Captain EO
IMG_0171.jpg

Finally it was time to find a spot for Illuminations, which we watched from Canada. Here are a few pics on the way there

IMG_0178.jpg

IMG_0177.jpg

IMG_0084.jpg

IMG_0087.jpg

I don't have any pics from Illuminations because my camera doesn't take good night shots...I wouldn't want to put you through that torture. This is my favorite night time show, I love music, it always gets me a little misty eyed. After Illuminations we headed for the bus along with thousands of other people. I kept thinking we would be waiting for a while. We spotted a French Quarter bus and hoped we would be able to get on. Not only did we get on the bus we were actually sitting!

Next day we were going to the Magic Kingdom!

At least the podium at the Rainforest is an elephant. And not just, you know, some random stand made out of a block of wood. Kisses for the elephant! Seems perfectly normal to me. :D Also, I LOVE the most evil wizard ever shot. Keep it up... I'm really curious to hear Eric's assessment of Disney and I think Epcot was a great first park choice.

May 9th - stupid move #2, Tonga Toast and clothes lining the chick who nearly ran me over with her stroller

This morning we were headed to the MK but first here comes stupid move #2 (the first was the margarita fiasco of course), good thing there were only two stupid moves this trip. I wear contact lenses and recently I actually switched to monthly ones, which resulted in switching contact solution as well. While we were getting ready I noticed one of my contacts was a bit blurry so I took it out to rinse it. The solution bottle was placed in such a way that when I read it it said "rinse lense prior to insertion"....great, rinse the sucker and pop it back in. I don't know how acid feels like but I'm pretty sure this was it. By the time I was able to open my eye without crying I looked like I had a case of pink eye gone bad. The bottle of solution actually read "DO NOT rinse lense prior to insertion"...Ah, should have maybe turned it a bit before practically squirting the stuff in my eye.

Going out in the sun made my eye burn so when we got to the Poly I went in search of sun glasses at Trader Jacks and then on to Kona Cafe to finally sink my teeth into Tonga Toast

Oops, cut into my breakfast ham before I took the pic
IMG_0185.jpg

For me, this was all it was cracked up to be. And that strawberry compote....give me a bowl of that please. But of course all good things must come to an end and we were soon on the monorail to the MK

IMG_0186.jpg

IMG_0187.jpg

IMG_0189.jpg

At the end of Main Street USA we headed left

IMG_0191.jpg

I took Eric to the Swiss Family Tree House. I know, not exactly the most exciting attraction to start with but we were passing by and he has to do it at least once.

A pic from the top of the tree house
IMG_0195.jpg

Moving along the next stop was...
IMG_0198.jpg

A big shout out to skipper Jeff, he was great. I couldn't have asked for a better skipper for Eric's first Jungle Cruise and Eric laughed the whole time. After this we headed for Pirates

IMG_0212.jpg

I always love this attraction, and I end up singing the song all day afterward. As we exited into the shop Eric joked I should get an eye patch so people would stop staring at me and thinking he probably popped me one.

Off to...
IMG_0215.jpg

I expected Splash Mountain to be crazy. It was sunny and hot, but the Stand-by line said only 10 minutes

Big Thunder Mountain was next, 30 minutes on this one, but we got in line anyway and ended up not even waiting 20 minutes

IMG_0217.jpg

I wanted to do one more thing before we left MK for the resort for the afternoon.

IMG_0225.jpg

Hokey I know but I hadn't done this one in years and like the Swiss Family, I wanted Eric to experience it at least once. We exited the park and hopped on a bus to POFQ for a bit of a swim and nap.

IMG_0731-1.jpg

It was hot out so the pool was very inviting. But we were getting hungry and we were ready to finish the rest of MK. Our choice for supper was Peco's Bill.

IMG_0228.jpg

We pretty much hoovered our burgers so no pics of those but I did manage to take one of our free dessert. I don't know if it was because of our Happily Ever After buttons or maybe it was a mistake but it was very good :slurp:

We then made our way to the Hall of Presidents
IMG_0230.jpg

After we got our smart on we went to one of my favs

IMG_0232.jpg

IMG_0233.jpg

You can get into two lines...the one on the left goes through the interactive queue and the right one gets you through a bit quicker. I don't know if they'll keep it this way or not but we chose the right one. LOVE this ride, and I loved the "new" hitchhiking ghosts at the end.

On to Fantasyland! When I told Eric I was bringing him to WDW, he sang It's a Small World for a month straight. So it was only fitting that I brought him to the actual ride

IMG_0237.jpg

IMG_0240.jpg

For some reason I took way too many pics in this ride and I have no idea why. And of course Eric sang the song pretty much the whole time through.

OMG I feel for you, I did the same thing on a trip in 2009. It was right after we checked in and went to change. That stuff does feel like acid in your eye, I had to flush mine out with water for about 5 minutes before I could get it open. I went to the concierge at the Contemporary and I distinctly remember walking up, not saying anything and Bruce the Concierge said to me "Visine?" He told me they sell sundries at the gift shop so I went straight there. I got it cleared up in just a few minutes, keep that in mind for the future!

I am lovin' your trip report so far! Those caramel apples at the new place in Germany look so good! My DD & I are addicted to gourmet caramel apples. I snapped a quick pic on my phone & text(ed) it to her! Hope she doesn't get caught texting in school! It'll be all Mom's fault! Can't wait to read more!

Hahaha..see I can laugh now but it really wasn't funny. I really want to say that I doubt I'd do it again but I'm so accident prone that I probably will. Good to know that Visine will clear it up, I'll definitely keep that in mind.

Thanks so much! They really did look so good but I'm scared that if I try one I won't be able to stop myself and get addicted too. I've only admired them from afar. I don't know how it do it given that I LOVE anything sweet and we have a chocolate shop at our local mall that makes gourmet caramel apples. I did get a box of Coconut Patties when we were at the Poly, they are soooo good :slurp:

Alright, I left you off with It's a Small World. Peter Pan was a no go, I think it was a 55 minute wait, no thanks. So Philharmagic it is! I really like that one and Eric enjoyed it as well. And after that we did Snow White and left Fantasyland because the stoller situation was now becoming almost unbearable. And it wasn't just in Fantasyland either.

We passed through Cinderella Castle to get to Tomorrowland

IMG_0247.jpg

And I took a pic of the crowd
IMG_0248.jpg

In Tomorrowland we did...
IMG_0253.jpg

We went by Space Mountain but it had a 70 minute wait...oh heck no. So we went to Buzz Lightyear and I got beaten so bad I don't even want to talk about it...hehehehe. Then we went by Space again and it went down to 60 minutes but we weren't interested in waiting that long.

We were getting very aggitated now. This chick completely cut me off with her double stroller, came running out of nowhere, I literally had to jump out of the way and something came out of my mouth that I wasn't proud of. Then she had the nerve to look back and roll her eyes as if I was the one at fault...what business did I have being in her way when she obviously had somewhere very important to be. Eric loudly expressed his desire to clothes line the, uh...witch as we watched her run through a family. At this point I pulled the plug before the fireworks because we were so frustrated we weren't enjoying the park at all. We did catch most of the Electrical Parade as we were leaving which was good.

Up next, we cheated on Disney for the day and headed to see Harry Potter.....
