Rach&Eric's Disneymoon fun/May 2011 TR

May 7th - Arrival/Downtown Disney

Well we got back from a great trip yesterday. The weather was awesome the whole time other than one little half hour on our last night there when a Thunder Storm rolled in...maybe to reflect our moods

So a quick recap before I start. Eric and I got married on April 9th and this was our honeymoon, uh Disneymoon. We were there from May 7th - 14th and staying at POFQ. On May 6th we left after work and drove 3 hours to Bangor, Maine where we were taking the plane from there the morning after. I got no sleep...I tried, I really did, but come on. We were going to be in WDW the day after, who can sleep? Our flights were uneventful and we got to Orlando International about 25 minutes before our scheduled arrival.

The line to DME looked pretty long, but we were through and seated on a bus within 20 minutes.

Oh what a beautiful sight

POFQ was the third stop, but I didn't mind, I was finally back and it felt great. We got to the resort and the online Check-in was very quick, we got through in less than 10 minutes and, even better, our room was ready!

Our room was great and during Illuminations we could step out and see the fireworks portions of the show. Here are a few pics of the room

We quickly got changed and headed for the boat to DD. We had dinner reservations at

We were seated right next to an aquarium

Ok, so we had a couple hours before our ADR so we went in a few shops and then discovered the Margarita stand....let's have a drink. Eric got a beer and I tried the "feature margarita" a very delicious Grapefruit Margarita. Now here's something you need to know, although I do drink I don't do it a lot...so needless to say I'm a cheap drunk. That baby had my lips numb in a matter of minutes and I was half in the bag by the time I went up to that podium to check in for dinner. I'm not super short but I'm not exactly tall either, the only thing the girl checking us in could see was my eyes and up. What transpired after I blame on the margarita. As we're patiently waiting for her to bring up the ADR I lean over and kiss the podium. Our conversation goes as follows:

Eric: Did you just kiss that thing?
Me: No ***break out in fit of giggles*** maybe
Eric: Oooookkkaaaayyyy, no more margaritas for you

Says the guy who after 1 beer looks at an aquarium like this

After dinner we went into a few more shops but then decided to call it a night as we were both really tired. The next day we were going to Epcot!

Ok so the show that I knew Eric would like was Lights, Motors, Action. He's a car and motorcycle kind of guy. He even bought a WDW license plate for his motorcycle (well a frame for the license plate)...so now we even have WDW with us when we go riding. He made me take about a gazillion pics of the show, you know because he was watching it he didn't want to miss anything but I could....:p

By the time LMA was done it was almost time for our 50's PTC ADR's. I like themed restaurants, but I wasn't sure how Eric would react so I told him all I could find on 50's.

I had the fried chicken...didn't take a pics of Eric's but he had the Char-grilled Butcher Tender Steak, he said it was really good

The poor guy was so scared of getting yelled at for not eating his veggies he not only ate them all (he's not a veggies kind of guy) he cleaned his whole plate...something he NEVER does. I was laughing so hard and our waitress was really good. I think she sensed that Eric might be a little iffy about this so she didn't raz him too much. We had a Boston Cream Parfait to share for dessert and the waitress did tell us to be nice and share, looked at Eric and said "no hair pulling".

After supper we were pooped and didn't stay for Fantasmic. While we were waiting for the bus to the resort there was a family behind us with 3 kids and we were offered said kids twice, once from mom and once from dad. Throughout our trip, people would notice our Happily Ever After buttons, smile and then when their kids would act up would say "This is what you have to look forward to", or offer us at least one of their kids. It was quite funny actually.

Next, it's our last day at WDW  so we spent it at DD

May 13th - last day at WDW, how sad

Alright, this was our last day at WDW. We had to make the most of it because we had to be in bed early...DME was picking us up at 4:10 am the next morning.

This morning we had our second breakfast ADR at the Grand Floridian Cafe

IMG_0701.jpg

IMG_0705.jpg

Sorry, no pics of our breakfast...I was so hungry I was halfway through it before I realized I hadn't taken any. I had the Maple Vanilla French Toast, which were really good, I would have those again. We'll probably never stay at the GF, which is ok, although I think it's very beautiful and I'd have a meal there again, I do think it's a bit to posh for me. I felt so under dressed and like someone would tell me not to touch anything with my dirty hands as if I were a child

Waiting for the Monorail to stop
IMG_0712.jpg

After our bellies were full we did have a stop at the MK to make. We had never made it to Space Mountain and I wanted to see if we could this time around. We did, there was a 30 minute wait, which isn't great but we decided why not and as we passed under the wait time changed to 20 minutes. This was not Eric's favorite...hahaha....he didn't really like that he couldn't see anything and was scared to move his head one way or another and hit something. On our way out I took a couple pics

IMG_0713.jpg

IMG_0714.jpg

We stopped at the Confectionary where I bought some Minnie Cupcake mix and said one last goodbye to the MK. We went back to the resort and spent a few hours by the pool and got a nice little sunburn...mostly my arms, I had at least thought to put some sunscreen on my face. Then we got ready and headed to DD for our last ADR

Took the boat from the resort

I had the Turkey burger and Eric a Bacon Cheeseburger. We then browsed a few shops and ran into these guys

IMG_0759.jpg

As we were starting to make our way towards Ghirardelli's we passed by Characters in Flight where a little electronic billboard was saying that it was closed due to thunder storms 20 miles away. A few minutes later we could hear it in the distance. We made it to Ghirardelli's and got some ice cream of course, sat down at a table and watched the rain come down. The one and only time it rained our whole vacation and it did for only 30 minutes or so.

Had one last Grapefruit Margarita (no podiums nearby to kiss)
IMG_0745.jpg

As you can see I was starting to feel it since I was taking self portraits

One last pic from DD
IMG_0753.jpg

And that's pretty much it. We went back to the resort to try and find a way to pack up our stuff. I swear I've never seen a man shop that much. 3 ball caps, 4 t-shirts/long sleeved t-shirts, a pair of shorts. He got the souvenir mug from Germany, one from the Nascar Grill, one from the Coca-Cola store in Epcot and a shooter glass from the MK. HAD to have a Screaming yo-yo from Zonko's Joke Shop at the Wizarding World (I'm already regretting that one), the license plate thingy for his motorcycle and who knows what else because I know I'm forgetting some stuff.

Eric's favorite parks were DHS and Epcot, he also loved DD. He liked MK and AK well enough but would be ok if we didn't spend as much time in those parks in future trips. Yes, my friends, my master plan was a success, he says we can go back in two years and told me to save my pennies for a stay at my favorite resort the Poly. Two years to wait kind of sucks but if I want to stay at the Poly I will need two years to save up...hahaha.

Congrats!!!! I hope you have a wonderful life together!!! I'm sure 2 years will be quick since at the end you get to have a stay at the Poly!!! :sohappy:
Great pictures also!!

I feel bad about your eye... I have that solution too, that you aren't supposed to put in your eyes. I have wondered how bad it was if it accidently happened.

So sad it's over :(
I'm SO glad to hear you convinced him to come back. It leaves me very hopefully for my upcoming trip with my bf.
Good luck saving those pennies for the poly! It's totally worth it!

Great report, sounds like a fabulous honeymoon!

I loved that your husband said his favorite ride was the one in Germany with the beer...my husband would totally say something like that.

You must use the same contact solution we use at home...my husband did the same thing you did last week. I wasn't there for it, but he said it was the worst pain he's ever felt. Ouch!

Thanks for your review on the movies in France and China. We've seen the Canada film and I'm hoping to make time for France and Chine during our next trip.

How did you like using the Mears bus to get to Universal?? We're looking into it for our next trip, but I think we might rent a car instead. And from one Harry Potter nerd to another, I'm totally hoping to come home with an HP scarf as well!

Good luck saving up for the Poly!! Really enjoyed your report!

Thanks so much! I'm already looking forward to the trip and it'll probably only be in September 2013, so about 2 and a half years I guess....I liked it much better when I was saying 2 years so I'll stick with that one.

I would suggest not putting the solution in your eyes if you can avoid it...lol. I can't even explain the pain, that's how bad it hurt

I'm sure you won't have a problem convincing your bf to go back. I had my doubts with Eric only because I know he's so not a crowd person and whether it's a "slow" time of year or not the crowds are still huge, but he still enjoyed it so I'm glad!

I've already started saving, no way am I letting go an opportunity to go to the Poly!

We had a great time and I'm very happy Eric liked it enough to come back :sohappy:

Ah, I feel for your husband, now he'll know to NEVER do that again.

I liked Mears, they were prompt and easy to use. I really have no complaints, if it had gone bad then you would knowl. Oh good, I'm glad I'm not the only Harry Potter nerd. I wanted to buy much more but there's only so much you can put in your suitcase

Thanks for reading, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

First of all, congratulaions! you make a really cute couple and I wish you all the happiness in the world!

I loved your TR and I´m so glad Eric liked WDW. You need to give him some time (and a couple more trips) and I´m pretty sure he won´t just like but he´ll LOVE IT! specially after your stay at the Poly (I´m so jealous that you will get to stay there on your next trip!) just make sure you don´t kiss any more podiums :p

again, I´m happy for you guys and I wish a happy life (with many many more trips to WDW) together

Thank you so much, what a sweetheart you are!

Hahaha...well I can't guarantee there won't be any more podium kissing, but I'll see what I can do.
