Today (5/7) is 6 weeks without a smoke for me. I was about a pack a day. I'm using the Nicoderm CQ patches and am having better than expected results so far. The Nicoderm patches are a gradual step down process. Chantix is an absolute NO WAY for me just listening to the possible side affects. My biggest test came this past weekend after rooming with my buddy who's a smoker and being around hundreds of smokers at a time at The Kentucky Derby. Thanks to the patch never really had the urge. Even after having major beers which was my biggest concern. Good luck to the OP and everyone else who may be trying to quit. It CAN be done but you have to be serious about it. Don't use any excuses to break down.

He's either over the smoking or has gone back to it!!

If you're smoking again, it's cool. We pass no judgement. :)

That's true. It took me two tries to finally quit. And my sweetie is still at it.
Every time we go to WDW, I bootleg cigs back to NY for DH, my brother, and my mom.

Officially day 14 as of tomorrow. Lungs have mostly cleared, sense of smell has largely come back.

Mornings are a still...icky (is that a good word for it?) but the Chantix doesn't appear to be messing with my sleep as much. I got home today from work and was dog tired...went to bed at 9p...which is very unusual for me. Slept until about a half hour ago, and am considering popping a sleeping aid and going back to bed. I don't have to be at work for another 7 hours...

Ok, after many weeks off, I cheated last week (stressful, end of month for accounting, and lots of late night work for me, which meant coffee, and conversely, smokes...this month made it worse, because I had the bright idea to dramatically change our entire inter-systems import procedures...which means...me...all me, and of course investors and senior management want it yesterday...

So, I picked the coffin nails back up...even though I'm way down (down from a pack to a pack and a half a day before Chantix to a quarter pack to a half pack a day)...

Visited the doc on Friday, and she increased my dose...and it's really messing with me. Been on it since Fri night, and I had the sweats all weekend, through last night...

Cut my urges down to one or two a day, which, I suppose is good...but every few hours I wake up wet with sweat (started Sunday, after a day on the new dosage). Not fun. I suppose this is a good thing I am single, because I'd hate to subject a lover to this withdrawal...probably the only time I'd actually volunteer to sleep on the couch!

Doc says in 2 weeks, to visit her again, and also recommended that I should call her if I felt depressed so she could recommend psych treatments.

What the heck???...who thought it would be this hard?

Good luck!!!!! I hope things get better soon!

Not smoked since yesterday, but man, I feel high right now. I just got finished programming a new front and back end interface for my business.

They won't see it...and I won't show it until them until I can really test it out with my subordinate manager in accounting (whom I trust, and will push for another raise for her this year, as she is worth her weight in gold)...but this is really screwing with me, as I have to take a pill, sober up, and take another pill, and sober up!

But at least you're smoke free, today. You're doing one of the hardest things one can ever do!
