Queue Lines Too Fast For Ya?

I really dont get this, would you want to get to the ride faster???

I guess you also have no argument with the point I made, since you have yet to make one.

Not always. I think it's just a matter of taste. I, for example, would rather spend 20 minutes or so browsing all the decorations and exhibits set up in the Kali River Rapids ride queue than ride the ride itself, just like I'd rather have a good paintball game than watch an episode of "Friends". It all depends on what you want to do.

I have something to say about everything you've posted, but I don't want to spend my free time trying to quote specifically, so I'll just quote your last one and type.

I feel the need to explain to you that the queues at Disney are themed to their specific ride, and the THEME is what Disney attractions are all about. If you've missed this point, and you apparently have, then you're missing the point of Disney World as a whole. The "thrill" rides with the metal bars that guide you through a square maze are pathetic excuses for queues in ANY park. They are a cheap way to move guests to an attraction, and the only true purpose of them is to save the park money. A REAL theme park cares about the appearance of their attractions and the STORY behind them.

Like mktiggerman said, you've yet to make a valid point against anyone's arguments. Until you do, I wont be back to respond again.

Also, you should have checked your attitude at the front door. It won't get you anywhere in here. Well, not anywhere good.

I would say that with some of the older rides like Peter Pan and Big Thunder Mountain, there is not that much involvement with the line. but look at some prime examples (merely a few actually):

The Tower of Terror, Haunted Mansion, Even the radio chat on jungle Cruise helps ease the torture of that queue deception, the Tiki Room, Dinosaur. Heck... even outside of Disney, the Dueling Dragons, Spider-man, and Back to the Future pull of the Queue value of the attraction pretty well. Some Amusement parks are even following this now... Outer Limits goes trough an old Aircraft Hanger housing a UFO while News reports are interrupted and all kinds of lights and special effects occur during your queue time and the aliens come on to tell you about what is happening. Some Queues are quite enjoyable. Although i don't care for Swiss Family treehouse, that's all it is for crying out loud. Anypoor souls who come out the exit wondering where the ride is really miss the point on this one. (Remember these are just a few examples) Star Tours is another great one to mention.

Didn't mean to start a war here.:(

Here's my point....I don't run through the Art Museum just so I can get to the Monet's and Piccasso's.

I walk through the Museum and enjoy ALL the exhibits on my way to the Monet's and Piccasso's.

If you wanna go around me...say excuse me...may I pass? Don't give me dirty looks, push me, shove me, make rude comments, or squeeze your nasty sweaty body up against me trying to get past me. I will gladly move for you if asked politely. ;)

You didn't start a war, you just made a valid point, and I happen to agree with it. Others are welcome to their opinion, its just a bit frustrating when the opposite side has no back up for their argument. I love to discuss these things!:)

Come now, Main Street USA, do you really need a backup for an opinion? If you say you like something and I don't, why would either of us need a backup?

Heres the solution to your problem: Go to WDW during prime times, ie Christmas, New Years, Presidents week, Summer vacation, etc. All of the lines will be long and slow and you will have plenty of time to explore the scenery!

Sheesh......That wasnt too difficult to figure out!

It's not about a fast or slow line, really. It's about the show and the magic. If you walk right on Pirates without taking a glance around you, I'd say you missed 20% of the attraction. But hey, that's just me...

Heres what I think, when I was younger and went to Disney World the only time I could go was during the summer. The lines were long and it seemed like forever just to get on a simple ride like Its A Small World. Now, I enjoy looking at the scenery just as much as you but to hope that there is a line so you could stop and look is just crazy. I remember those days waiting 3 hours for Space Mountain, and then another 2 and 1/2 for Big Thunder Mountain. Thats about half your day right there. It really isn't worth it. I am so thankful now that I'm out of school and I'm able to go to Disney during the off season and walk right on a ride. It just makes me upset sometimes to see people complain about things like this :brick:

I'VE HEARD IT ALL!!!

Hello? What is the point here? If you want to see those areas then stop and look and let people go around! When I read this one, I thought, Now I've hear it all!!! If you love to look then I agree with pixieintraining- go the most crowded times of the year and you'll get your wish!!! If I want to look at something, then I'll look. Nobody forces you to move on...........you just say go ahead of me? Where is the problem here? I love being able to go at the least crowded time of year. If we see something that we want to stop and look at, we do! If not, we just keep moving on? Most people complain about lines, now I hear someone complain about no lines>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> This one was the best!!! :hammer:

But a valid point did come out of this... the thread kinda shifted to the concept: Is the Queue a valid extention of the attraction? I believe this would have been a better approach to this topic. You are right on the other hand, and I'd always prefer no line vs a line.

Sure, no line is better than a 2 hour wait. BUT, if it's a walk-on, why don't you take that extra 5 minutes just to glance around you and see Imagineering at its finest? I guess that's the whole point, isn't it? You don't need to run like there's no tomorrow, it's a walk-on and the attraction isn't going anywhere. And I do agree, to wish for a 2-hour wait just to soak in the queue is pretty weird! :hammer:

My understanding is that people go to WDW for the rides and attractions. Because the place is so popular and can accomodate many more people than can get on the rides at once, queues form. To keep the queues from preventing the free flow of other people queue areas were built. AND FINALLY - to stop people within the queue areas from getting bored they were built to the same high quality as the attractions so that people could look and admire when stood.
If people like to stand and admire when there is no queue - fine, let them (as long as they don't prevent others from passing)
