Queue Lines Too Fast For Ya?

Just had to share this little experience, considering the topic. Back when I visited Disneyland twice a year, there was a couple allowing people to pass by. It looked like the woman was frantically trying to find something in her purse. I don't know what it was, but they both looked very concerned. The couple was on the line in front of us, around the next turn. Whatever it was they were looking for, they apparently found. As they tried to "get into the flow" again, some man told them "no cuts." Nevermind that the couple had been originally way ahead of them in line. Fortunately, before a loud debate started, the next group let them rejoin the flow.

Line mentality can be a strange thing.

I usually follow the 30 minute rule. If the queue is more than a 30 minute wait, we go FP and come back later. We always try to take in as much as we can while we're there. We do enjoy the theming of the queues, but our time at WDW has the priority.

This is why I started the 'Best Queue' topic before .. I think queues ARE a part of the ride. They should be entertaining and make you forget that you are waiting (somewhat) .. I'm sure a lot more development goes into them than one may think.
Waiting in line isn't that big of a deal as long as A) the line keeps moving and B) there are interesting things to look at. IMO

Seriously though, with the short attention span video game playing society of today it's always go go go. Take a second, look around, and enjoy the whole attraction. Jeez, I sound like my parents .. sorry .. lol

Here's my point....I don't run through the Art Museum just so I can get to the Monet's and Piccasso's.

I walk through the Museum and enjoy ALL the exhibits on my way to the Monet's and Piccasso's.

If you wanna go around me...say excuse me...may I pass? Don't give me dirty looks, push me, shove me, make rude comments, or squeeze your nasty sweaty body up against me trying to get past me. I will gladly move for you if asked politely. ;)

you made a very valid point..

I agree completely with you! The queueshould give you where you are, who you are and the characters around you are, and the type of ride it will be. I'll take Splash Mountain for example. You pass by the homes of the characters, you are warned what the ride will be like, and it gives you a wildlife/wilderness scenery to set yourself in. I think missing the queue would be like not reading the first 3 chapters of some books. Now yes I do FP but I don't ususally run to the ride loading area. I still look around myself.

This is my opinion, and so far I think everyone has said something negative about, anyways All I'm trying to say is that I personally dont see the point of stopping to look at something, I'd rather talk to friends and maybe glance at the stuff and the get to the ride, to me that is more fun!

Maybe you are taking this a little too personal and being too defensive. Many of the others are just giving their opinion also, I have seen very few direct attacks on your behalf. Others opinions are just as valid as yours. I don't recall saying anything negative about your posts.

It's really all just a matter of taste really. Same way some people like some rides and others don't, some people enjoy just to look at the scenery and others would rather get right on the ride. It really depends on the person. Also, it may depend on how many times you've been to the parks. Some of us that go frequently enjoy looking around, soaking the atmosphere, and seeing details we may never have seen before, while if I had only been to WDW a few times, I would probably agreee with you and rush from ride to ride. I understand what you're saying, but just have a different oppinion.

There is nothing wrong with your opinion. Hey, isn't that what FP is for, so you can walk right on (most of the time).

I agree with everyones point. In 2000 when we for the first time (myself, wife & kids, I'd been before when I was younger & single) we wanted to do everything and didn't want to waste time standing in line. So we really didn't take time to soak it all in.

The 4th time we went (Jan 5 - Jan 11, 2003), I made it a point to sit down at the MK Railroad Station over looking Main Street and watch the characters in the square interact with the guests. It was great to just sit and take it all in. Talk about "feeling the magic". I highly recommend just slowing down and enjoying the atmosphere. It will make your experience at WDW that much more memorable IMHO.

Well, the beauty of a discussion board is that everyone can have their own opinion.

I will agree with that the Bucs are going to win the Super Bowl though! :animwink:

The lines are boring indeed... but the rides are fun.. lol. I'm actually about due for a visit to Magic Mountain (the ONLY decent Six Flags park, IMO) and Cedar Point (well... come spring)

If it's a race to see how many things you can do in a day then go the first week of December.:D

If you want to enjoy the Queue, which at WDW is part of the attraction, then smile and say " you may go ahead of me/us".

I love to read the signs, watch the pre-show monitors (Muppets 3D is great every time) and people watch. :)

Some attractions are meaningless without the queue/pre-show such as HISTA. Without the queue and themeing ToT becomes Demon Drop at Cedar Point.:) :D

Please take this as my opinion not an attack on anyone or the support of anyone.

Everyone have a Disney Day.

Six Flags over Georgia is horrible. I'm trying Six Flags America this May, so we'll see.

I really enjoy admiring all the things to see in the queue lines while I'm waiting to ride an attraction.

For example: I Love to walk thru the Pirates Of The Caribbean queue and look at all the displays of pirate stuff. Same with Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Rail Road, and a few others. I get frustrated when I have to practically RUN through these exhibits because I have people behind me giving me dirty looks because I'm not moving fast enough.

I know I should be appreciative that the line is short and there's little or no waiting...but I stay at WDW for a week at a time when I go, so I can take my time and enjoy all the little "Details".

Has anyone else ever experianced this, and does it bother you too or is it just ME being a whiner?

I know what you mean. When my wife and I were there in early December, we never had a line at the ToT. Therefore, we didn't get to admire the little details to the "gardens" area or the "lobby". In fact, we didn't get to look much in the "boiler room", either. I enjoyed getting right on the ride, but I did miss emersing myself in the details.

That wasn't the point. My point was that he was writing "why wouldn't you want to get to the ride faster?" and then following it with a hammer to the head icon, as if it were a stupid thing to stop and look at the incredible theming and story of a ride. If the ride itself is all he cares about, then so be it, but he shouldn't give the impression that others are wierd and stupid for wanting to take their time and take in the ENTIRE attraction.

Believe me, us internationals totally understand the concept of "making time". THe price we pay for the trip, sometimes we go with a very tight schedule. So we gotta rush to as many attractions as possible. Now, I'll be taking my girlfriend for her first trip in the future. We're shooting for January, so no crowds. I'd NEVER totally rush through attractions with a first-timer, because they pride those little details even more than us old-timers... ;)

Okay, just to give this whole conversation a different twist:

While I love the theming of the queues and enjoy taking time to pay attention to the details of the theming, my favorite passtime while in line is people-watching. The interesting thing is, that people-watching is a LOT different experience in a themed queue area than a "cattle-chute" line. Watching other people react to the details can be hilarious.
