Question Regarding AP's

We are going down to WDW in July and we plan on buying AP's, however we want to use the AP discounts for AKL. We plan on making reservations after in January. Can you buy AP's and then activate them when you get to WDW, or are they activated upon purchase? Also, can we make reservations and then update them once the AP codes come out on the basis that we plan on purchasing them upon arrival, or do you have to already have AP's before you can use the codes? We don't want to but them in January when we won't be using them until July, but at the same time, we want to use the codes when they come out. How does it work?

Not true. I'm not lawyer but, as I look at the actual 2003 pass in my wallet, it says "Benefits Expire January 1, 2004". That would be yesterday.

They come out with a NEW set of benefits for 2004. Could be better or it could be worse. I'm just curious about what they might be.

While the percentage and hours may change, they certainly aren't going away. Aside from the change of the National car rental discount to Alamo and National since they merged, I don't think anything actually changed between 2002 and 2003.

I'm hopeful for better discounts as well, but I believe the only change we'll really see is the removal of the Orlando Rays Baseball metion. Though if they really ARE planning on rasing their ticket prices soon to follow SeaWorld and Universal...

"Disney World Annual Passholders get some great discounts for 2003. These technically expire 1/1/04, but typically Disney honors the previous year's discounts until the new discounts are released. In the past few years, that hasn't been until mid-January. Discount excludes taxes and gratuity:"

This is what I had found and your right it says until NEW discounts are released I have read so much on this stuff lately that its all starting to blend. Sorry for any confusion.

Why not call Disney and ask them if anything has changed for the AP holder benefits from last year? I am sure there is a special phone number to call for it.

Get it activated before check in.
Okay, sounds good. Can I activate it at AK? We bought our last AP's at AK, so I am guessing yes. That's good, it means only a hop, skip and jump away! Thanks everyone!

You do not need to activate it before check in. Just bring your receipt with you at check in. They told me it was fine as long as I had the receipt. After check in I went to Epcot, got it activated, and finally got to ride MS.

You can activate it at any of the 4 parks guest services and also at Downtown Disney.

(jwbeck3)Better safe than sorry. Not every CM will take a receipt or a voucher. Just because someone at Central Res. says it's ok, doesn't mean that everyone will follow that lead.

Have a Great trip crazygirley!

It may have something to do with "being in the computer". I have never had a problem getting the AP rate at check-in. I can't remember the last time I was asked to show my AP or voucher. I always have my AP or voucher with me and ready to display if asked. I'm just guessing here but maybe it has something to do with how frequently you visit? We've been continuous AP holders for about 20 years (best I recall) and we go to WDW several times each year.

This year will be my first experience with an AP. Thanks for the advice Pam. I will be sure and have it activated before checking into the hotel.

Good advice, Pam. A friend of mine showed up at the Port Orleans, Riverside last year and they insisted he have the APs in hand even though he had vouchers. Unlike me, he's not the arguing kind so he left his family in the lobby (or at the pool) while he took the bus to a park for the passes.
Until everyone is on the same page at Disney concerning this matter, your advice is the prudent way to go unless, of course, you have a couple of hours of your vacation you can afford to blow!

Tramp, you're absolutely right! You never know when you're going to run into someone who goes "by the book."

Inserting a non sequitar here...

Now that I know that giving away my fast pass is wrong, wrong, wrong, I'll never do it again!

Please resume the previous topic. Thank You. ;)

Oh Mom...that is a beautiful avatar! Which pic did you finally decide on?

Pam, I chose the one taken from the back, with me looking over my shoulder. This one was just a better face shot.
