I rewatched the Discovery Channel Special on Making of A Mountain: Everest and as I watched during the scene as you make your decent backwards you can hear the yeti..My Question is...Is the Yeti so loud can you hear him from ground level, Que line or around the Everest area?

WOW! I'm gonna start calling you the MEGA-THREAD STARTER. 155 threads since you joined a year and a half ago.

Don't know the anwers to your question though since I haven't ridden it yet. But I'm sure I'll post after I do!

It's done by speakers that create the illusion the yeti is chasing you. I never recall hearing the yeti during the backwards part over the screams. There is definately a roar in the cave after the big drop.

Not old, just vintage.
You can't really hear the Yeti or any other noise from the mountain (except for screams) while in the queue. You can't really get very close to the mountain unless you happen to be in a ride vehicle or are a CM. It is not like Splash or BTMR where there are actual areas of the "mountain" that you can touch without even getting in line for the ride. However, when you are on Everest, the Yeti is quite clearly heard. The other creaks, crashes, and "scary noises" comming from the mountain are great too. Very spooky.

My guess would be speakers, I know for fact the yeti is loud but im sure half or more of the mountain is sound proof. But im sure the speakers are to scare the people that ride it or get them excited to see the yeti.

You can hear some of the roars from outside the mountain (or at least you could last week). You can also hear the bird screeching.

IF you stand in the viewing area for the big drop on ground level you can hear the roar Yeti played though speakers inside the mountain during the 2nd track switch/shadow room. Its not loud, but you can definetely hear it at ground level.

Otherwise, I haven't heard the Yeti roar in the queue line or anywhere else around the Everest site. Although, sometimes you can hear the bird from the first track switch while in the queue when the wind is blowing the right way.
