Question about going to Disney alone

I think it depends on your personality, some people can't even go to a movie alone so if your like that maybe skip it.
Also, and I am speaking to whats going on with you, but if this was a trip you had planned with her, I can see this being tough. Anyway to bring a friend or relative would be MUCH better, just to keep your mind off her etc...

This, a thousand times this. It's one thing to go alone just because you felt like going alone or whatever, but I'd say it's a different thing entirely to go alone on a trip that was supposed to be shared with your now ex-fiancee. I live so far away I could never justify going solo anyway, but to add the break-up factor would leave me a wreck. Good luck, man!

From Colorado here. I just went to the parks solo last Th and Fr and had a blast. Park hopped and did everything i wanted to do (like rode star tours 5 times in a row Friday morning when the line was a walk on). Still had some interaction with some great cast members who were always very chatty when I would hold up my index finger when they asked how many and even made a new friend by the end of the trip. Guess it really depends on your personality; however, in general, I think anyone with a love of the parks can have a blast on their own...just my .02 ; )

Going to Disney alone is GREAT!!! Trust me, CMs and other families will welcome you with open arms (if you like). Sit down resturants - that is a different story. I love OHANA but the last 2 times I have went - I did not receive the best service. They tend to focus highly on larger groups. But nonetheless, I still go back because I love it so much. Some may suggest sitting at the bar. I hate that. If I go to a sit down place, I want the full experience. Just go in CONFIDENT and ready to have fun. Depending on the server, they will make you feel wonderful. Sometimes, the managers will come out and strike up a conversation with a solo before a group. I even received a free desert one time.

I have gone alone four times now and I'm starting to feel like I actually prefer going solo! lol.

You can do whatever you want whenever you want. It's great.

I have done many activities solo including parasailing, snorkeling, dinner show, renting a boat. I look forward to doing more activities.

As for sit down dining, I don't see why that would be a problem. I had a great meal at Plaza Restaurant with a view of the castle right in front of me. No one to block it, lol.

Basically if you are comfortable with yourself and enjoy your own company you will do fine.
If youre not comfortable with yourself, its a good opportunity to explore that freedom.

I have a trip planned for end of September, I was suppose to go with my fiancee but we have since broken things off. I was wondering how enjoyable Disney is going alone. Also the sit down restaurants how awkward is it to go to them alone?

I personally cant ever be alone with some thing like that , do you have a friend or relative that would like to come with you?

Well, I'm going solo for a week come September 18th! I cannot WAIT! I upgraded to a MOD because we usually stay Value. It will be wonderful to see all the shows I've always wanted to see without any grief (Nemo and Festival of the Lion King), take my time looking and exploring, riding rides that nobody else has wanted to ride the past 3 years and just enjoy the whole ambiance of the World - I'm doing signature dining, TS and CS and couldn't be happier about it! The trip is what you make of it! I'm even meeting somebody from "here" at Chef Mickey's with her family the night I arrive...so relax and enjoy.

For me, my wife and I have the exact same tastes etc. so we do what we want when we want to do it and have a great time. I have never felt like I would rather be doing this or eating that. So for me going solo would be the exact same trip....but alone with no one to talk to all day.

I ate at La Hacienda de San Angel on my recent solo trip and had fantastic service and an awesome table. I'm the kind of person who hates going to restaurants alone but it was a really nice experience. I got the impression that the fact that I was alone was taken into consideration by the staff there.

Hey, how was La Hacienda by the way. I haven't heard any reviews since the meu change? Also, do you still eat "outside" overlooking the boats?

By the way this is my 2,000 post. :sohappy:

I ate there twice in May (not sure when the menu change was) and it was amazing. It's definitely on par with 'nice' Mexican restaurants I've eaten at. I'm not sure about eating 'outside' -- I was fairly close to the entrance both times and didn't explore the rest of the building as much as I should have.

Are you by chance mixing up La Hacienda, the newly constructed restaurant that overlooks the world showcase lagoon, and San Angel, the restaurant inside the pavilion that over looks the Three Cablinaro's boat ride attraction?

I wish I can do a SOLO trip! Please enjoy this time....I am a mommy of four wonderful, very enthusiastic, busy busy children. My husband and I have NO IDEA what it's like to do anything solo. Our trip in October will our first together without the kiddos in tow....and I must say we are giddy!

But I often have thought about times even as a cast member, to go explore the World alone. I agree, everything is done on YOUR own time and pace. If you still feel like you want someone with you, how about a friend, relative or even a co-worker that you socialize with.

Just trust me on this, I can't say this enough to anyone I meet.....enjoy YOUR time...before the chaos....

Tough situation to be in.
I have gone solo one time when on business in Japan
But that was because my family was at home and my fellow travelers were not interested.(hard to believe - I know).

My one day at TDR was awesome. At times it was weird not having anyone to share it with but on the other hand:

1) Met up with two fellow "solo"s doing the same thing.
2) Not once did a have a disagreement about what to eat, where to go next, where to stand for a parade, etc.
3) Did the single rider lines ( in Japan the CM actually asks the family/group's permission to include you in their group - very considerate - of course every family smiled and agreed to let the Canadian join in)

But most of all......

4) From 7am to 10pm I only used the restroom 4 times.... with 2 daughters and my wife that is the first 2 hours on a normal day!!!!!!

Going to WDW alone can be a great and relaxing experience...but only when it's planned to be alone. Your situation was not the plan. I have been in a similar situation and speaking from experience, you will not enjoy yourself. I have done a sit down restaurant by myself and it was awkward from the start when I gave them my reservation number and the hostess said, "Party of two?" And then sitting by myself in a section with twos all around me. Plus, when you're walking around in the parks you may think to yourself that something's missing. These are supposed to be shared memories, etc. It's pretty depressing.

But September is a bit down the road (unlike mine when it was only about a week), you may be more healed and enjoy yourself. If it seems hard you can always ask a friend or sibling to go along with you.

Oh, I see our ressies are for La Hacienda de San Angel and not San Angel inn. So, which is better? Is San Angel Inn still crap?

I have not been to San Angel in a while but I understand that they have improved. That of course is not saying much as Moe's would be a drastic improvement over the San Angel of a few years ago. I ate at La Hacienda shortly after they opened and really enjoyed it. The portions are a bit small for the prices but the quality was really good. Also the view of Illuminations from there is very good and somewhat unique. I would not hesitate dining there again for a second.

Ive never done a whole trip alone, but I did go to EPCOT by myself once. My wife had gotten sick, and after making her comfy at the WL, I went to EPCOT to meet my mom and her friend who were having lunch there. I entered the park, and on passing Spaceship earth, I noticed there was no wait whatsoever. I thought "why not, its pretty quick and a fav of mime". I had forgotten about my childhood fear of mannikins. Needless to say, there was a long ridestop just as the ride reached the Egyptian scene. It was probably only about 2 minutes, but it seemed like an eternity as I sat half expecting the Pharaoh to turn his head, look at me and smile fiendishly. Needless to say, if I ever went to WDW by myself, after that experience I know I would have to dodge anything with human audio-animatronics figures.
