Question about dining / resort ?

My wife and I are planning our 2012 september big family vacation, we are thinking is it worth it to stay at a moderate resort so sit down dining is included when/if free dining is announced? Or should we stay at value (pop) and pay the difference to upgrade to sit down?

We would love to stay at a moderate for the first time but don't want to pay too much more. Thoughts? Advice?

I had to figure this out for my honeymoon in Oct 2011 , i stayed for 2 weeks, i stayed at pop century and got free dining but upgraded to sit down. To stay at a moderate I would have paid more even though the free dining was included, i would stay at a value Pop preferable or Movies Those are the best 2 i feel. I hope you have a great time ask away any thing else!

It all depends on what you want to use your resort for. If all you plan on using your resort for is a place to sleep and shower then what the moderates have to offer (save for queen size beds at all but CBR) is largely wasted. If you plan on logging some pool time and a little R&R around you resort then the moderates are well worth the additional expense.

We have a family of 5, so we have to stay @ a moderate.
Although we have stayed @ a value before when our in-laws were going.
I believe the value is still cheaper, even with the dining upgrade - I would have to check the numbers to make sure.
On the other hand, the moderates are nicer & more relaxing, in my opinion.
But, if it is strictly based on $, I would say value resort with the upgrade.
If our in-laws were going this year, we would probably change to the value ourselves.
I know, hard choice...& I probably didn't help very much.

Don't necessarily expect that the table service dining plan is what would be included, though. There is a pin code floating around right now, that some here on these forums have received, and it offers free dining. Unfortunately, for Value and Moderate Resorts, it is the quick service dining plan, and it is the regular dining plan for Deluxe and Vacation Club Resorts. So if/when free dining comes out for your September trip, don't be surprised if the moderate resorts get the quick service dining plan.

Having said all that, I agree with what Master Yoda said. For me, I like to take time out to enjoy the resort. I like to have an evening where we eat at the sit down restaraunt at the resort we're staying at, we like to do bike rides, I like to go out on the boat, and do the pool. So for us, it's worth it to me to stay in the moderates. If you're in the parks from sun up to sun down and have no intention of doing anything other than sleeping and showering, then it may not be worth the extra price for the hotel.

Can't speak for what the U.S. offers will be but the Canadian offer this year was for the Quick-Service Dining Plan at the Moderate resorts if that is any indication.
