As Disney, if I were in negotiations and someone tried the "blogger story plant" trick to try gain advantage over me, I would tell PUSH to go pound sand and show him the door. Getting 3rd parties involved to gain advantage is bad faith negotiating.
I would almost agree with you, except for the fact that Disney is a BIG company with lots of well-paid lawyers, and when trying to deal with them when you're a small company with maybe one lawyer to represent you against their TEAM, it doesn't exactly make for a level playing field. Just speculating here, but he may have felt like he needed some backing/justification to help get a leg up on them. Not that I think that's ethical or right in any way, but when you're fighting a giant that's 10 times your size, one might resort to unfair tactics to beat him.
The owner of PUSH must predetermine his BATNA, Best Alternative To Negotiated Agreement. If WDW fails to meet this level, PUSH will walk away in a professional manner. If you know what your minimum is, no company small or large will be able to roll you. Resorting to blogosphere assistance is bad faith and reeks of unprofessional, amateur desperation.I would almost agree with you, except for the fact that Disney is a BIG company with lots of well-paid lawyers, and when trying to deal with them when you're a small company with maybe one lawyer to represent you against their TEAM, it doesn't exactly make for a level playing field. Apparently, PUSH came to shove . . .
Well..I dunno I hear what you are saying and maybe it reaks of the amateur part, but my gut reaction is it reeks more of Goliath squashing David because David's stones just weren't big enough fast enough or soon enough....The owner of PUSH must predetermine his BATNA, Best Alternative To Negotiated Agreement. The owner of PUSH fundamentally misunderstood his position. PUSH was a "nice to have" not a "need to have" in the eyes of his negotiating partners. He overreached badly.Well..I dunno I hear what you are saying and maybe it reaks of the amateur part, but my gut reaction is it reeks more of Goliath squashing David because David's stones just weren't big enough fast enough or soon enough....
I know, seriously. It's not like it's Lights of Winter level of super technology. It's not as if PUSH requires some huge technological breakthrough or amazingly developed talent.
It's a trashcan on an RC base with a microphone and speaker. Some of the "talent" needs to get over themselves.
If I were a bird in the Tiki Room, I'd be pretty mad right now. They at least can sing.
Blogger intervention very well may have killed PUSH. If WDW caves to the blogosphere with PUSH, where does it stop?I'm sure many will jump on me for this, and once again I have no knowledge of what went on, but wasn't this thread started by a rumor cast members were discussing PUSH's cancellation. I fully understand the reasons for floating out an idea to blogs and others to try to get leverage in negotiations. However, that would have had zero affect on what was happening behind the scenes at WDW. Why were Tomorrowland employees confirming his cancellation, if the idea of his cancellation was just a hollow rumor floated out by the 3rd party, to scare Disney? Maybe I'm not seeing something, but the way I'm viewing this, it wasn't 100% a hollow rumor used to sway public opinion.
pretty sure disney is 3000x the size. Ahhh, PUSH consumed too much energy!I know, seriously. It's not like it's Lights of Winter level of super technology.

Yeah, before long they'd have to start catering to paying customers. If WDW caves to the blogosphere with PUSH, where does it stop?
