PTR: Sept 2012 Adult Visit!

Okay. I know its VERY early to even discuss this, however I am going to use this thread for the next 10 months to vent my excitement I have. I know everyone where I work will get tired of my talking about it. (Some of them already have) I am hoping there are a few here that will share in my excitement and totally understand where I am coming from. No one else does! :ROFLOL:

The Plan:
Me and My awesome wife is planning our first adult only trip just for the two of us. I planned Sept. because the kids will be back in school, crowds "supposed" to be lighter, and will be our 3 year anniversary! Not that we hate our kids but we just want to do more adult themed things during our visit. I am very excited about the opportunity to really try many dining options which were not within our budget with 5 kids. We chose our dates, nailed down a baby sitter for the kids for the week, and requested the days off at work. Time to put the plan in to motion. Decided to have some help with Kingdom Konsultants this time around. Many thanks to Master Yoda for working with me on this trip! I cant wait to really start making my schedule for this week to experience things I never have before and learn about new hidden gems to do while visiting The World! With that said on Sept. 30th we made our reservations! :sohappy:

We considered the Dining Plan however as of this date it has not been offered for free. We are however saving money as we go for the next 10 months to go toward our dining. At this point I have $150 banked up for meals. Pretty good start IMO! We have a couple of dining favorites we know we will visit however we want to really try new things when we return. Any suggestions on places on a adult trip that shouldn't be missed will be greatly appreciated!

I decided that myself and my wife will plan one night as a date night for each other. We will take in consideration our favorite foods and things to do and plan a night focused on the other. I am super excited about this and think it will be a lot of fun.

At this point I am totally consumed with this trip. I post everyday on the "How Many Days for You... " thread. I also have a CD in my truck that has all of the Nighttime Firework show music on it that plays all the time. Recently I have started listening to DTunesLive on my pc at work. Dont know how I am going to make it until September 2012!

Very thankful for this message forum which gives me an outlet to talk about my Disney passion. Maybe there will be someone here that will find this thread entertaining. Until my trip arrives I will fill the gap with many visits to WDWMagic were I am sure to find many tips and advice on how to make this the BEST TRIP EVER!!

Guess that's enough for now.

Congratulations on the trip. I just feel bad for the sitter. 5 kids:eek: Just kidding. The wife and I went up there for a few days for our honeymoon. Money was tight at the time. Our little one thinks we were at the beach for a few days. We kind of felt bad going without them, but had a great time.

Congratz on you getting an exact date on your 12/12 visit. Maybe you will start a PTR I can follow along as well!

Well. One kid doesnt live with us except for every other weekend. So...... Grandparents will only have to keep track of 4. However the kids are much older. Youngest one will be 10 and oldest will be 19 and in college. They can pretty much take care of themselves.

I will not be feeling bad at all for going without them. :goodnevil:ROFLOL:
Not that we have horrible kids its just going to be nice to go and do stuff for us this time. Prior trips have always been about entertaining the kids.

I have to say when I ran across your PTR today it gave me quite a thrill! :sohappy: I have been debating whether or not to put up a PTR myself and I have to say yours could have been mine (well almost lol). I was afraid people would think we are crazy for just two adults being super excited about going back to WDW without the kids lol (our friends and family all do, including said kiddies!). Our PTR's would be similar as we also have a rather large family, 7 kids!! Their ages are 24, 23, 20, 20, 19, 19, 17. Yep, we have twins (the 19 yo's, one of the 20's was adopted at 3 years) We are also booked for Sept 2012!!! Sept 20 - Oct 4 at Pop with free dining to be exact to celebrate our anniversary as well (9th)! Only the first week of our trip will be by ourselves tho. One of our 20 yo daughters, one of our daughter-in-laws and one of our grandchildren (YEP, we have 4 of those as well lol) will be meeting us for the second week of our stay. Hubby and I are soooo super excited to be vacationing alone for a change lol. It has always cost sooooo much to bring all the kids (and we did, many times!) to WDW. Because we are only paying for our own vacations for a change, lol, we actually planned 2 of them!! The 2 weeks in WDW in Sept and our first ever vaca to DISNEYLAND in less than 4 weeks for 8 days!!! LMAO, I have been sooo ready to burst at the seams with excitment and no one to tell it to!!! I have been feeling your pain and, whew, that felt good to get it all out!!! I have always wanted to see La Nouba and never wanted to pay the price for so many people lol. I am trying to figure it in to our trip this time. I hope it is ok if I stalk your PTR to see what others suggest to you and maybe swipe an idea or two? Oh and I really hope you didn't mind me bursting and venting on your PTR. I just couldn't help it!!! I hope you guys have as much fun as we plan to!!! :sohappy: :ROFLOL::ROFLOL:

Just added Liberty Tree Tavern for our NEW arrival date. Got looking and noticed that Night of Joy last night was the night before our arrival. So..... What else could I do but to just book another night?!??!?!

Hi there! Can't wait to read your TR, I love seeing/reading about people who enjoy Disney as much as I do! It's so exciting! I'm 32, not married yet, no boyfriend right now and no kids yet so I'll be going with my family (mom and dad) this November! I don't know the exact dates yet though because I'm waiting for the Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party dates to be announced! I so can't wait to start planning the MAGIC! I get sooo excited just thinking about it! Can't wait! Looks like you've chosen several great places to eat too! I'm for sure going to make an ADR at Via Napoli, everyone seems to LOVE that place! Great PTR so far!

don't feel bad about not doing every single vacation with your children. my husband and i have 2 kids now ages 22 and 27. when they were growing up each year we did a big vacation with all 4 of us and one trip with just my husband and i. when they were really young if we went somewhere like disney we told them we were going to orlando...not the same as disney to them so as to not hurt their feelings. this past fall i told my granddaughter we were going to epcot for the food and wine festival and the reason for not taking her on that trip was because she wasn't old enough to drink wine and that made perfect sense to her. anyway, i think it's very important for couples to remember they're a couple not just someones parents. disney as a couple is more like your honeymoon and a really different experience from going with your kids. have a great time and remember you can take time for a nice sit down meal and no you don't have to ride peter pan if you don't want to lol.

Oh trust me I dont feel bad. Not really even a little. :ROFLOL:

Matter of fact we broke the news to the kids last night and all of them took it really well. They understand this is a trip for us to celebrate our Anniversary and it isn't the first time we have taken trips to celebrate our anniversary.

We promised to bring them something back.

Wow. Haven't updated this in awhile. Not as diligent at others with updating a PTR. Hope I do much better on the final Trip Report.

Didn't add that we extended our visit by one day. Instead of arriving on the 9th were not arriving on the 8th. Hope to catch Night of Joy on that Saturday. Also scored reservations at Ohana's for Dinner that night! Still waiting on the dates for Sept to open for the Dessert Party. It seems like a daily ritual for me to check the dates. My day hasn't started until I check for availability for the Dessert Party.
