Proposal Dinner Set!

Today I finally made my long-overdue call to Disney to arrange priority seating for my proposal to my girlfriend on our trip in two weeks.

Disney was actually quite nice about it. Here's how it went down and what's going on for those of you curious:

I called the usual number and went through to the dinner reservation agent and told them my deal. Disney no longer offers engagement packages like they used to, FYI. But - they are more than willing to help out. My g/f has been begging to go to Cinderella's Royal Table - so that's where I planned to go. I wanted to propose early in the trip so that we could spend the trip engaged. The ealiest time in the week she had for dinner was Wednesday the 6th (we get there on the 5th). So it's not too bad.

The Disney reservationist transfered me to the Royal Table manager (Janice) who told me the drill. First of all, they put a special note in the computer about my proposal. Sometime towards the end of dinner I have to leave the table (bathroom or whatever) and slip the ring to the manager. At desert, they bring the ring over on a white platter with a top on it. On the platter is my ring and a glass slipper (purchasable for $30 as a keepsake). The waiter says something along the lines of "A special something for you, m'lady" and that's when I do whatever it is I'm going to do (I have no idea yet! To get down on a knee or not - that is the question!).

So I'm mega nervous now of course but I have no doubt it will all go down pretty well. All of this is free of charge but, like I said, only $30 if I want to purchase the slipper as a keepsake - which I will.

Anyways that's about it - I'll let you know how it goes. 2 weeks from tommorow!

Man. If I was ready to propose to my girlfriend, I would totally want to do it down at WDW. I hope everything goes well for you. And dude.....be a gentleman and take a knee. (I'm a sucker for the old-fashioned)

First of all, do it the old fashioned way and get down on your knee, I think it will mean a little more that way. And when I read that, it actually gave me chills as I still don't know how to go about proposing to my girlfriend next time I go. Hopefully spring/summer of next year! I'm thinking right at the end of Wishes.

Best of luck on your proposal and I know it will be a magical night and trip for you! (You should think about getting married and/or honeymoon at WDW too!)

Hope everything goes well!!! Also, I wonder...do you think they have ever allowed someone to dress as Prince Charming to propose in the castle? That might be asking to much, but wouldn't it be romantic?

Congrats!
We'll be down there at the same time, but will be out at our anniversary dinner that evening. Otherwise, I'd hang around outside to listen for the cheer to rise up. Do prepare yourself, if it isn't intimidating enought to face this event between you and your to-be, but to do it on stage with a few hundred of your closest friends.

Better you than me! Do enjoy, but I imagine the evening including the meal will be a total blank to you, and your lady will be "lost" afterwards...but I guess that's the way it should be.

Wow how romantic. Eating dinner in the castle is the best anyway...and then having a proposal with the ring in a glass slipper...she will be blown away. Good luck & congratulations. :sohappy: :sohappy:

Thank-you all for the very kind and encouraging words - they mean a lot! Now it's just a matter of time before it happens!

One person said something about being onstage or something - it's nothing like that. It's just at my dinner table in (what I hear is) in a small restaurant.

I am not one to draw attention at all - in fact, I hate attention. :lookaround: But, on the other hand, this is a one-time thing and I probably will do the knee thing for my girlfriend's sake at least. I think this will be memorable in and of itself, but why not maximize it, right?

It's so funny b/c I'm not nervous about being engaged, I'm not nervous about her saying yes (that's beyond a given) ... I think I'm more nervous than anything of having the waitresses or whoever call attention to my table for an applause or something. I suppose I'll get over it - well, I hope I do!

2 weeks from today is the big day!

Joey, you captured what I meant by being onstage, I didn't mean a stage literally. While I don't in any way want to dissuade you from this, I think it is a wonderful idea, and a moment that will stay with both you and your girl for the rest of your lives, BUT....I don't think it is possible, even in the Castle for all to quickly catch on to what's happening, and with that you will both be well recognized! :sohappy:
