Disney, currently under Eisner, is creatively bankrupt because he's not about to spend any money on anything worth looking forward to. Wha? No one ever says these things will ever happen. We just like to discuss them. Don't you think the Imagineers know that? They probably do the same thing we do all the time.
Besides, that's what most of this board is about. At least the stuff I find interesting and fun about it.

True curently their products seem to be in a rut, but that is and that is a result of economic issues, nothing with creativity. WDI is still Imaginative and has the capapblity to do great things, and they still are DCA and WDS are great parks compared to the rest of the feild they are just not quite up to Disney's standards, the result again lack of money to work with. even if we are living in a fantasy world, that is the whole point of Disney the current producuction slump isn't going to fix it's self by moaning about how bad things are, it's going to be fixed to continue to dream dreams and keep dreaming them making them better and tweaking them to perfection; then once we get a CEO who has a mindset nearer to Walt's the Disney Parks will fully enter a 3rd golden age.
There's no way California Adventure and Disney Studios Paris are better than what Universal did with Islands of Adventure. That's why they're failing miserably. I love Disney, but the way the parks are being handled currently is deplorable. Sure Imagineers can do amazing things (do I have to mention DisneySea?), but that doesn't really matter if they never get the appropriate budgets to do things properly.

I am so thankful that we are mentioning 4 winderful parks!!! I am sick of Animal Kingdom getting bashed for what it is. I tjink it is one of the most wonderfully themed and well laid out. I walk in there and it has a great feeling. So there are not 5 e rides...they will come in time. I admit, the Chester and Hesters is not the greatest...but not everybody will love every single thing. I know I am on a tangent but I think AK needs more respect...it was a risk and I love it.

Actually as far as actuall themeparks go DCA and WDS are better than IOA and/or still better if not euqal to US. Universal makes terrible themparks but decient thrill/amusment parks. A theme parks main goal is essentially to protray a story to the guest through a themed enviornment. Large green coaster tracks at IOA complelty kill that, it is the cardnal sin of theme park design to simply build exposed coaster track in the middle of a park unless it fits the theme, ie California Screm'N; not to say that DIsney has not bent that rule or broken it in some minor ways but no way near to the point the Universal has. So yes in the realm of theme parks Disney's underacheivments are still top-notch.

They were making a California peire and that's what most peirs look, coney island,ect.,(sort of anyway). They have one main attraction and they would make sure when you walked in that you would be able to see it and make sure you knew it was a coaster. If they had put this park in the same place just under another name, not disney, people would have loved it, but since it's disney people have a higher standard for them that comes with making great parks.

Exactly.......Universal can make great individual rides but they really lack in being able to create an excellent entire theme park (and its hard for me to see spending 50 bucks so i can ride 3 or 4 rides)..case in point.. IOA has a few great great rides (Hulk and Spiderman) but as a park it really kinda blows........no good shows or resturants.....I mean if you put one hulk type coaster in each of Disney's 4 parks IOA would be out of business in a year
For the umpteenth time...I enjoy ALL of the Orlando area parks, but I choose different parks at different times!
People travelling with grandparents or young children will probably prefer WDW. Those with teens will want to visit IOA. And the situation will keep changing over the years; sometimes you'll prefer one over the other. I'm thankful that there are so many choices within a short drive of each other....and they're all within driving distance for me!

Disney can't survive without money, just like we can't survive without food. So, decisions will be based on money or Disney will die.
Once in a while something creative will sneak through.
I think Eisner walked the line pretty well between financial stability and creativity, although by necessity he leaned toward the former. In times of famine, creativity will suffer more than profit. That's now.
Uninhibited creativity would require free money. Donations!!! Anyone want to just GIVE money to the imagineers and let em go with the hope they will create something inspiriing? Whether or not it is profitable.
If so, I will sign up to be an imagineer.

Hi Mom. :wave: :wave: I agree. I try not to compare the different parks in Orlando, although I'm guity of comparing rides to on another. :animwink: All the parks are wonderful in their own way. US/IOA and SW are nothing like Disney parks, and I for one am glad. If they were all alike they'd be boring. Well, maybe not boring, but not as much fun. :animwink: :lol:
As for the Blue Sky concepts, a lot of us are here BECAUSE of them. It's fun to discuss what ifs. Hope is a wonderful thing. Mission:Space could be the best theme park attraction on the planet. We'll all have to wait and see, but one of the best things about these msg boards is that we can talk to other Disney Addicts about the new things coming on line and about what we hope Disney, US, and SW are going to do next.

I have never been to IOA yet, but I am going to guess that the parks do not "blow". The architecture, landscaping, etc, look great in the pictures. Very colorful and stuff.
Universal is not Disney. They will do things differently that what Disney tries to do with their parks. And that is a good thing! Where as Disney has parks that attempt to go really deep into the subject they are themed around (Epcot, AK), IOA is pretty much a "variety pack" park. Sorta like the Magic Kingdom, but still very different.
Besides, I bet a majority of the creative minds behind IOA learned their stuff at Disney Imagineering at some point in their life. A lot of them are probably former Imagineers, so I wouldn't put their ideas down just because they work at Universal!

A lot of IOA's designers are ex-Imagineers who either left Disney because of Eisner and Pressler's BS or were laid off during the pre-dismantlement of WDI.
