The coaster itself seems like a good idea to me. I like the old "wild mouse" type of coasters. And with the free spinning cars it seems like a cool addition to the ride.

The midway games are a huge disapointment to me. They do not belong in the park. Actually I think the whole carnaval thing is a bad idea.

If you are going to build a carnaval, put it when it belongs: At the BoardWalk. Some Midway games, a farris wheel, a scrambler. That would make sence cause it be like the boardwalks we have in the mid atlantic region. But, i guess that would make too much sence for managment

And of all parks it is going in ANIMAL KINGDOM. One of 2 parks that are really supposed to be educational. Too late now though to do anything about it.

All I have to say is that people make mistakes. Walt Disney, as great as he was, made mistakes too. So what is the big deal about the new coaster. When Disney has to compete with cheap thrill rides at such places as Six Flags, something drastic has to be done. They must have good reason for doing this because Animal Kingdom is supposed to be the most laid back, relaxing park. A place where parents can take their kids to just chill, i.e. the "large sandbox". I give major kudos to the imagineers and their great spinoff of the old carnivals. I think this is one thing that Walt Disney himself would be proud of!

That is true with the truly portable version of the ride. You only have 2 days to assemble/disassemble the ride when you're taking it to carnivals and state fairs.

But this is a permanent installation of a portable ride. There are also two coasters, and both rides are heavily themed.

Heavily themed!? This is not heavily themed. It is a shotty-looking rollercaster that has shiney cut-outs of dinosurs, astroids, etc. I don't even think it is really themed but if i would have to descibe the themeing I would say it is "Cheaply Themed".

I agree. Imagineering hasn't lost it's touch. The "Eisner-Pressler" era is in full swing right now and -true we can't expect awesome E-rides to be built every year- we should be getting more than we are.

You said some good stuff here but I just have to comment on one thing... Disney isn't competing with Six Flags at all! The people they compete with are the Univeral parks, Sea World and to some extent even Busch Gardens. Thse companies are spending money hand over fist to get as much of the tourism in Central Florida as possible. They still don't hav near the numbers Disney does, but they are gaining. By Disney slacking off they are just asking for it.

Now, I like this coaster. I hate the area with all my heart and soul, but I love the coaster. It had potential- and still does. It will be a popular ride to families and will be the talk of their trip of how "Jimmy was scared to go on at first but in the end Mom was the one who was most scared" or "It was Sally's first rollercoaster ever!". This will keep people in the park longer.

What I don't like is the damned themeing and the area. It is sad. Just a pitty. It's a damn shame that they did this theme. I don't think people will like the area but the rollercoaster will be the only reason they go to Chester and Hester's. The games make me want to cry and just the look of the are makes me want to vomit.

Six Flags games I know do not cost 3 dollars. Disney has definatly over priced the games because they are two dollars for one try, and they give really bad prizes. I saw no one doing the carival games when I was there. All the children were at the bone yard. Does this tell you something??? I definatly think Disney should have waited until Sea World or Universal added these type of games before putting them in WDW.

We the same ride in an amusement park in Mexico City (La Feria de Chapultepec, a very "cheap" park) named Ratón Loco (Crazy Mouse)... to tell you the truth... it's one of the worst rides I've ever gone to! I can't beleive Disney is just about to open that ride.. it's not fun at all, actually, I think it's quite agressive.. it left me with my neck hurting a whole week...
Followe this link to see a few photos od the same ride at Mexico http://www.rcdb.com/installationgallery657.htm

Anyway, I'm looking forward going back to AK just because of the new parade! I've heard its awesome!

At Six Flags great Adventure in NJ most of the games are now costing 3 dollars to play. And now with the park closed for the season I expect all the games to be close to that price.

All I know is that right now I'm looking at pictures of Tokyo Disney Sea and wondering why they couldn't build some kiddy area like the Mermaid Lagoon section over there. Talk about DETAIL. The thing is they have small carnival rides but the detail they put into it makes the place look very nice so it's not an issue that Disney Sea had a bigger budget. Plus they don't have the carnival games.

Have you ever been on a wild mouse? Have you ever seen pictures of the other Riverchon spinning wild mouse installations? For the most part, all of them are simply a pile of steel that's bolted together. They all have the same layout, and only one of them has any theming whatsoever.

However, PW has an awful lot of objects scattered throughout both of the tracks. Granted, this is no Splash Mountain. Heck, it's not even Buzz Lightyear. But, it's one of the best looking wild mice I've ever seen.

I know, I couldn't believe all they did under that "Triton Castle." It's like a whole land under there. I love the new Tokyo Disney Seas, they did a great job.

On PW, the more I think about it the more I like it, at first I was bull it wasn't indoor. But it would look so stupid in the middle of the Carney theme to have two large buildings. The Wild Mouse is part of the old school carnival's and it works. I'm fine with anything new going into AK, they desperately need any attraction they can get.

I wonder why people keep referring to this as a little kid coaster/ride. From what I understand it will have a similar height requirement as Space Mountain and Splash Mountain. No one is calling those attractions kiddy rides.

Well maybe if the public pulls a "Journey into your Imagination" on it (no one rides it) they will tear it down! hehe, wishful thinking on my part. I cannot stand the sight of the entire area of Dino-Rama!

Been to Seaworld lately? they were all over the KID AREA beside the Shamu Stadium, and have been for TWO years that I know of. Plus they have Been at Busch Gardens for years. I personally do not Know but I suspect That Universal also has them. HOWEVER; I personally do not think that Disney should even consider having them.

Universal has these "carnival games" they are all over the Amityville section of the studio park.

And Make up most of the booth's around the Lost Continent section of IOA.

Pumbas Nakasak

Heading for the great escape.
The thing about show ground stalls is you dont have to play them. Some people get a buzz out of that sort oft hing its just like slot machines (or puggys as my Grandpa used to call them). They are a staple fair of any British amusment /theme park. I dont bother with them. But given the popularity with brits it could be a shrewed move by the Disney bean-counters.
I will hold my judgement on the area untill I see it for myself, but I have no problems with a fairground ride after all wasnt Space mountain based on self same thing except in the dark?
Ive lived so long with average rides with trully awfull themeing, that even if it is as bad as people feel it should still be a buzz for my youngest.

im a brit, and i HATE those kinda areas, im dissapointed that disney have installed one, although i reserve judgement untill i see it. Ijust hope that its not like the ones in Busch Gardens that make the place look incredibly tacky. I do know what you mean though, the theme parks over here ALWAYS have arcade areas.

Can anyone describe exactly what these games are? Are they relatively easy to win something at? Even a small prize?

I too am not thrilled to see the games. I would hope Disney regarded them as a compliment to the overall theme and not a real revenue generator. My hope would be that if a little kid walked up to the counter and $3 is spent, they win at least a small prize. Or something of very high quality if you genuinely beat the game.

I never liked the Tomorrowland Arcade either. OK for getting out of the rain, that's about it. You want video games at the resorts, that's fine. But I refuse to let my kid spend time dunking quarters in a video game at MK. We can do that at the mall where the admission is free. MK time is just too valuable.

Anytime I've been past the games at Boardwalk there were very few people around them. I always regarded them as an extra prop to the overall Boardwalk theme.

The games at Universal are not theme props, they are there to make money. Very traditional midway games, barking and all.
