I think alot of people here need to remember tha carny rides are not new at disney. Besides the current plague of hub-and-spoke rides, old fashioned carny rides have been a part of the world since it started. I mean, the teacups is OBVIOUSLY a carny ride, same with the carousel. And all the dark rides in fantasyland (with the exception of winnie the pooh, which is VERY well done, with much better charecters) is a bunch of carboard cut-outs with timed lighting...Seriously, on snow white, how many things ACTUALLY move? Dopeys ears and hand at the end, and the wicked queen when she turns around. Whoopie. I can't wait.
Alot of you are judging this area before you have actually BEEN there. I am blessed enough to live in florida, a mere 1 1/2 from the happiest place on earth, and I have visited Dinorama. My only complain, get this, is that it looks to CLEAN. It looks to SHINY AND NEW. The paint is bright and everything is very new looking. The rest of dinoland consists of old rusty mobile homes, scrap metal roofs, and other wonderfully themed 'atomic age' stuff. The road-side carnival looks to sterilized, hopefully that'll pass in time, and the paint will be less shiny. You'll know what I mean when you visit it.
Anyways. I don't really mind it. I probably would be OUTRAGED if I couldn't see the outline of beastly kingdom on the horizon. And from what I've HEARD of beastly kingdom, it seems to violate theming even WORSE then dinorama..(That reign of fire ride..who wants to 'ride' through burning new york while exploring a mytological land?) For me, this is a kiddie section, and I'm sure that the 48" height requirment will be lowered to 36"...It makes more sense. Common folks, so you don't like the ride, big deal. It's not really an eye sore, it actually brings some color to the otherwise blandly painted dinoland, and some comedy relief to the serios mood of the park. It'll draw crowds from the other attractions, and you can't complain about it being a carny ride without bringing up a dozen other 'carny' rides that walt disney designed himself. The only difference, he made them nice and neat, and without scabby, dirty attendents. And thats what they did with dinorama.
