Primeval Whirl - Model of Track Layout

Hey, dinoland USA isn't supposed to be the 'time of the dinosaurs' its themed to the 1950's and 60's if you hadn't noticed.

And beastly kingdom will fit in fine, but reign of fire, from what I've heard, sounds like it will be even more poorly themed..Unless beatly kingdom is going to look completely different from what I imagine...

It's gonna be really weird walking out of the Unicorn's Garden and into a post apocolyptic new york that is in flaming ruins. Talk about a wrench being thrown into the theme flow...Thats why I pray that the movie really sinks. That means its time for a retheme!

From what I can see...Dinoland is more themed like a realistic dino dig...and research site..a very "serious" looking theme. So I guess the Dino Hunters eventually Discover that the Dinorsaurs were just a bunch of fun loving carny goers???

hehe

The reighn of fire ride is probobly going to tie in with a movie (I totalllly cant remember the name right now) that takes place in a post apocolyptic world...and is now run by dragons. (of course...you could already know that...It would really help if I could remember the name of the movie)...

I agree that it seems a bit out of place...it would go much better in MGM....

Dinoland USA looks like one of those little towsa that sprung up next to a fossil 'hot spot', not just a dig site. Thats why there is a huge Dino gift shop, and a resteraunt. You didn't mention anythign about the archeologists discovering that dinosaurs enjoyed dining out at resteraunts(which i have never been able to spell)....I guess if you understand the fact that places like what DInoland is themed after REALLY did exists in the western united staes, and that the area is actually pretty acurate, the it wouldn't bug you as much. then again, I could be wrong.

Well...the CTX building supports the whole "dino complex" theme that I was trying to takl about...which is in my opinoin a much more "serious" attraction...and to have a carnival next door...is just weird...

On a side note..Chad..you are definatly my favorite person to debate with on here...you have well educated responces and never once resort to challening ones knoledge on any topic...

Same here nowinc :) Its rare to find someone who doesn't think that just because I challenge your views, it means I hate you as a person, because nothing could be farther form the truth.

Oh well.

I guess everyone will be divided on this issue. There will be those who will be able to dismiss it as a kiddie ride and block it from their mind. Those who will actually enjoy it (this will be the smallest group.) and those who will view it as a sacreligous, unimaginative blob.

I, myself, fall into the first. I don't like it, but it doesn't look to out of place, and doesn't bug me.

In the end what it comes down to is you can avoid it...its tucked away in a spot where its VERY easy to just pass bye and never look twice....

As I am sure you know..I hate it in all aspects of its existance..but hey..no ones forcing me to look at it or ride it ;)

Perhaps I am overanalyzing a bit, but maybe this whole thing is supposed to be a tourist trap next to a functioning dig site and museum. I mean, isn't the road that leads up to DinoRama physically set up like a highway? I could certainly see the whole 1950s theme in that...they just need to have the Imagineers that made the Tower of Terror go down there for a couple weeks and make everything look older...also, the Dino Institute seems like a moderately corrupt company--Director Marsh seems to be very-profit-oriented. Perhaps this is a tourist trap the Dino Institute opens up to make a few extra bucks. They should hint at something like that if it's the case...I don't mean put in more "Dino Institute" Trash cans...I mean...perhaps there are a few boxes coming in w/ toys for the carny games that have "Property of Director Marsh" or "DI" on them...or something more subtle that I can't think of at 12 am...in all honesty, 1950s coasters would have bright colors, be outdoors, and have cheap cardboard cut-out theming...they just need to make it look like we are viewing a 1950s tourist trap in the 21st century...like the rest of dinoland(that is, everything needs to look 50 years old in DinoRama).

For Now, Inc:
Reign of Fire the ride will be based on the movie Reign of Fire

For DogsRule:
The story of Dino-Rama involves Chester and Hester (obviously) and their ongoing competition with the Dino Institute. That is why Chester and Hester opened up those stands with Dino Toys, and that is why they moved their traveling Carnival-Dino Rama- Right down the road from the Dino-Institute. Dino-Rama and the Dino Institute are not connected, and not friendly. Hopefully with this big move by Chester and Hester, the Institute is gonna build something big to draw the people back to them.

Well...then that clears THAT up (for me)...so now I will say this...Tradtionally..Disney knows a head of time when one of their movies is going to be a hit...they capitalize on it alll the time (Pearl harbor was the exception)...so if they are already planning a ride based on this movie..you can bet your life that it'll most likly rock....

well...they couldn't make a thrill ride about it if it was not amazing...no one would remember the movie in 2005 when the ride opens...

oh come now...they can never tell when it will be a hit. Remember Mission to Mars? It was supposed to be part of the story for mission: space...I can almost gurantee that "reign of fire" will flop. It sounds like one of those "Stock up on special effects, but burn the script" movies. Oh well...But does anyone else agree that it sounds like a HORRIBLE themeing job? Or is everyone just SO desperate for Beastly Kingdom that they don't care anymore???

If anybody read my comment besides MrPromey, I made reference to the Theme/story of Primevel Whirl, as to the fact of it being already experienced but its a different interpretation, which makes it funny and humorus. the whole area was designed by WDI whether some want to believe it or not. Since I was not aware of the carneys springing up at dig sites in the past, this whole Idea now makes even more sense. One more point to make is that from the Dino-Rama story is that Chester and Hester are JUNK dealers, and two more people work with them, Nestor and Ester. You have got to see that this whole idea is supposed to be rediculous, and the coaster is supposed to look like its made out of cheap stuff and JUNK.

they need to put all this on the park map...I mean, we all love disney, and many of us don't know all these stories...think of the people who don't study disney on a daily basis...they'd be clueless! I'm convinced that the theming is there...but I still think Primeval Whirl! needs on-ride audio...it has an on-ride photo, music is the least they can do!

Reign of Fire sounds like such an expensive ride and it's still in the planning stages regardless...I would like to think Disney will be CERTAIN that it fits in...the allusion to Reign of Fire could be as big as Dinosaur!s allusion to Dinosaur...minor. I don't think it will involve Apocolyptic NYC...especially post-September 11th, that would not be accepted very well by the public...one reason I'm not sure this movie will do well (in addition to it's lack of good acting). Will people be ready to see NYC in ruins next year??? Thinking no. I would expect this ride will include some of the dragos running the world and no other allusions to the movie. THAT would not detract away from the theme we are thinking of...AK is not MGM, so this will not be like Star Tours, with cuts right from the movie...THAT (cuts from Reign of Fire) might make a good Rock 'n' Roller Coaster for Cali Adventure...although, again...not sure this movie will do well.

Yeah, a map blurb would help alot...
My point exactly with reign of Fire. NYC just wouldn't fit in at all with a mythical land. if they just have dragons, maybe even dragons from the movie, and have you flying through a cave/forest/ stone tower it would be great, but the whole post apocolyptic thing...No, not working. But the name is cool, keep it :)

Since most of this ride is to be outside, I would think it would have to be a cave or forest...probably a forest. The castle thing would be too much like Dueling Dragons...besides, trees flying by makes if feel like you are moving faster, and disney loves making things seem better than they really are (does Space Mountain feel as slow as it really is???) It's probably going to be something like Volcano: The Blast Coaster at Paramount Kings Dominion--that is, a LIM/LSM launch (those lift hills are SOOO nasty!) That would make it an...Intamin AG coaster...I would love for disney to get a Bolliger and Mabillard coaster...but...Universal and Sea World both have em, so I suppose it'd be a waste...

I think instead of putting the story of the rides in the park maps..they sohuld provide SUPPLIMENTS that do that...not everyone is interested in the story....but for those who are..they would at least have the option...
