I suppose there weren't indoor coasters at carnivals, but still...it needs to be indoors:) I was thinking Exterminator at Kennywood looks fine...it's not like they CAN'T do something with this...they just won't...I hope it AT LEAST has a soundtrack...unlike Mulholland..

It is truely going to fit right in with the rest of Dino-Rama...which means its going to be ugly and very un-fun. I still am very against this whole dino-rama thing mostly because it just doesnt FIT with the overall serious mood of Animal Kingdom...for those who have seen this horribly addition, I am sure you will agree. Even most of the kids I saw were saying it was pretty lame...

On the up side...the total lack of originality and cheap rides really didnt hurt the budget THAT bad....

You know, i'm interested in where this came from. Is it just a model from imagineering? This seems like big news, but i haven't discovered any other sites with the news. Way to go Steve!:sohappy:

but it NEEDS a soundtrack! Give the cast members a radio! I don't care! I need to hear music!!! Play the Chester and Hester's dinoland soundtrack! They are such cheap bastards!!! The cars are already specially made ("rider-controlled"), why couldn't they put some headphones in or just have a radio positioned at the center of the coaster! If they wanted to be cheap, they could use the friction from the spinning action of the cars to generate the power needed to have the radio work. The music slows down, Pressler gets on the sound system "SPIN DAMMIT! SPIN!!!!!" Or better yet...rider-controlled just means there's a wheel in the middle and you have to physically spin the car...and you can buy WD-40 in the queue line. Perhaps that's why there are 13 cars each track instead of the traditional Reverchon 9...to generate enough power for ALL OF DINO-RAMA!!! INGENIOUS!!

Primeval Whirl

You guys are killing me. Smee and Epcot71 are pretty much on target with Dino-Rama and Primeval Whirl. The photo doesn't give a whole lot of info about the theming. All of that YUCKEY stuff your seeing has moving props on it, or is spinning in some way. It should turn out to be somewhat like the ORIGINAL JII where you had just to much to look at, and you couldn't see it all (btw a true perfect classic, that I was fit to be tied about when I rode thru the present FIASCO). Where WDI came up with the Dino-Rama idea, I haven't got a clue, but they are executing the Idea well like Epcot71 said. Road side tacky. That said, the attraction does have a theme and a story, one that all of you guys have already experienced. Only it's a different interpretation, and when you think about, It's quite funny. btw from where I work, I can see these things being made.:animwink:

But to the best of my knowledge, WDI doesn't really have anything to do with this project... As for what this area is trying to 'recreate', I suppose it's just coincidence that it's cheap and tacky. I don't know about the rest of the country but in FL these kinds of road side attractions were known (and still are) as "tourist traps" and they weren't given that name because of their high quality or desirable standards. They were given that name because they were crap - something that someone slapped together to try to get a buck or two off an unsuspecting person from out of state that didn't know any better till it was too late... Actually, from what I have seen in pictures and in person, I guess Disney is doing a VERY good job of recreating this theme... The only problem is when you try to theme something after crap, it tends to look and act a lot like crap - sort of makes it hard for people to tell the difference between real cheap & tacky and themed cheap & tacky.

Dino-rama is for the kids....do you think an 8 year old is thinking.."wow, the color scheme of this ride is hideous"! :)
I absolutely agree! These types of attractions are for the young at heart. For those of us who require a bit more stimulation, I guess we should wait and see what Mission:Space has to offer.

The ride layout looks identical to one at Kennywood Park near Pittsburgh. I'm sure Disney will spend more on theme scenary than little K-Wood could.

I'm betting the ride will be very popular, and lines long.
Amen to that Smee.I myself, might become one of those standing within that long line.

I myself HAVE ridden one of these types of rides..and trust me..they are NOT fun. I would rather waste my time waiting on line for the Barnstormer (A short short kids ride) than get on this rickity rust machine.

I cannot stress enough that this is not a kiddie ride...and I wasn't 48 inches at age 8, so I don't think 8-year-olds will be thinking ANYTHING about this ride...

On a side note, I was only joking when I asked if it was done yet, and then I see a picture and it IS almost done! HAHAHA!!! That's great...

Simple rides like this are fairly easy to construct. It wont take long for it to be done and open...so it can beging crushing the imaginations and fun in tons of young minds...

Wow, I'm sorry, but i still like it. Sure it's not Beastly Kingdom, but I like it.

Anyway, onto my question, I just checked out some of the construction pics, and it seems like there's only 1 coaster up right now. Now is that just the way it seemed by the views of the pictures, or is there really only 1 coaster going up right now?

maybe some Imagineer got ticked at how nasty it was, kicked it, and the second coaster broke. At least I'll probably be able to go on it in February...it'll be like going to Six Flags in the off-season!

I didn't go thru everyones posts but wanted to say my piece. I rode the one in California adventure and i liked the little whip you get going around each curve. It gave alot of the people i watched a little scare. The ride layout looks the same. This is basically a drop anywhere coaster. All you need is a flat piece of land and a socket wrench. The ride goes along with the rest of the theme pretty well. Two adults fit nicely on it. It is a nice throwback of the wild mouse from older times. It fit good into California adventure as well. If smaller kids are getting on it its a good thrill for them. Not everything has to be for us big kids! I will say i dont want to see the same attraction popping up with a different theme over and over. Dumbo, aladdin, and the dino version are enough and this should be the last time we see this coaster too.

DMC-12

It's HarmonioUS, NOT HarmoniYOU.
Ok...so now I can expect an Tilt-A-Whirl in the MK now right...?
How carney..... I agree with those that say put it in a building. I hope this ride is short lived.

Oh! I will avoid the carny ride at all costs.
So...I have this Idea.... Take out Test Track...and put Bumper Cars in its place? That works right? And look how much money Disney will save on overhead and maintaince....LOL Kidding Kidding:animwink:
