Here is a picture where they had to unload the people on the ride because it stopped:

I knew it wouldn't take long before people got all negative on Primeval Whirl.

You act like Disney rides should never break down, and this is the first time it happened. Space Mountain breaks down semi-regularly, and it's not always short downtime either.

As far as coasters go, this is very minor too. There are coasters that valley on a regular basis, which is nothing compared to this.

It looks like this is just a bad sensor. The ride itself has been tested for years. This exact design has been in place in amusement parks for a long, long time. The fact that there are so many installations should tell you something about the coaster's record.

yes all coasters have problems when they open. the first year millennium force was open, it always broke down. i was lucky enough the day i was their when we got off the rest of my friends were about 10minutes behind us. the ride broke down just after we had been on, for about 3 or 4 hrs.

Its a brand new ride. All rides that just opened have bugs to work out.

Your right....like the Tilt-A-Whirl, Gravitron, Zipper, Bumper Cars..you get the picture...(sticking with the carny theme);)

I still say that coaster looks cheap

Geez... how long is it going to take for Disney and those of us who LIKE Dinoland to beat this through your heads?? IT IS SUPPOSED TO LOOK CHEAP!!! That is the theme. And apparently, if you think it looks cheap... Disney has suceeded. Yeesh!

I bet you that Walt didn't want anything in his parks to look CHEAP. Why not just make every attraction look cheap? That would be really easy wouldn't it? It would be very inexpensive and easy to do, but that's not what Walt Disney set out to do. Go look at any of the other disney parks (except DCA). It anything themed to look cheap? Dino-Rama was themed to be cheap, because it was cheap to build. So if they build cheap attractions will we just let them get away with it and say "oh it's suppose to look cheap" NO. Disney World isn't a place for "cheap looking" attractions.

Oh, and one more thing. How do cheap looking carnival rides fit the theme of Animal Kingdom AT ALL? Don't even try to stretch it. It doesn't. I do'nt know what they were thinking when they build this.....:hammer:

So technically, they could have spent even less money, and not theme it at all, not even paint it, and that would be the theming. DinoRama is supposed to look cheap, yes, but it doesn't take much effort to make something look cheap.

Hmmm... you people should really check your facts before you argue something. Disney actualy spent more money then they had to to make this look cheap. Take Primeval Whirl! for example, first off, those coaster cost about 2 million to build, add to that the fact that Disney added about 3x's as many supports as it needed, to make it look cheap, AND they added all those dinosaur cut outs, a themed que, and designed and built themed cars. So Disney really spent 5x's more then they had to to make it look that way. And all the little details that Disney put into Dino-rama to make it look cheap, like the license plates serving as landscaping stones. They didn't have to do that. It's just one more thing to add to the atmosphere of it all. And for those of you who think Dino-Rama! has no story line... read on....

(To quote DogsRule! in another post, this is the actual story line)

"Chester and Hester, like Mickey Mouse, are corporate symbols. There are two companies in Dinoland--the Dino Institute and Chester and Hesters. Both are trying to get tourist dollars (although the Dino Institute hates to admit it). Chester and Hester's saw that many guests were coming to the Dino Institute to come experience time travel with their fabled Time Rovers, so Chester and Hester's decided to open up a shop to try and make money off the Dino Institute's guests. They made a lot of money, and then decided they would build a small tourist trap along the road to the Dino Institute. Of course, it needed to be dino themed, but they were not willing to spend as much money as the Dino Institute had, so they built TriceraTop Spin and Primeval Whirl!--Primeval Whirl!, of course, being their version of time travel. "

So, there you have it folks... Dino-Rama! (Like everything that Disney does) has a story line. It is a great addition to the park, and if you don't like it, then don't go to it and shut up about it, please!

These Primeval Whirl threads are becoming exceedingly repetitive. No one is willing to accept Jake and my opinion and I am certainly not willing to accept that the coaster is cheap. So can we stop trying to argue either side. To put it bluntly, if you don't think the ride is up to your standards, DON'T RIDE IT. It will be your loss and I will have a shorter line to wait in. Disney has made it VERY easy for you to bypass Dino-Rama altogether. One freakin' ride is not going to make disney go to hell and you are ignorant to think so. Let's try putting some trust in the company...

Actually, perhaps you should get your facts straight. Primeval Whirl! is just a double tracked standard of a spinning wild mouse coaster. There are many of these, and they all have about the same ammount of supports. The coaster cost 2 Million, but thats incredibly cheap by today's coaster standards. Coasters today cost, on average, at least 14 million. Some even go up to 25 million, like Millennium Force, and others even reach 50 million. 2 million is nothing. Cutout theming is also cheap. Kennywood, PA, built a ride exactly like this called Exterminator, a spinning wild mouse, only its enclosed, themed to a power plant, has animatronics, and lots of dark ride/ fun house effects. Put simply, it blows Primeval Whirl! away in the theming department, and its at Kennywood! Kennywood is a small, traditional park.

I'm not saying I won't ride Primeval Whirl! because its probably fun, and it isn't an E ticket ride or a big deal, but some of you need to stop pretending that Disney spent a lot of money on Dino Rama.

Well of course they're going to have a story for it. They have stories for everything. Yes they have a nice story for it, but does it fit the theme of Animal Kingdom? Does it have ANYTHING to do with AK except that they have mascotts that are dinosaurs?

It is a great addition to the park, and if you don't like it, then don't go to it and shut up about it, please!

I'm scared that some people have lowered their standards so much. This would be a great addition to maybe a Six Flags park but Disney? NO. I'm not going to shut up about it. Disney has herd from me about this, and they'll hear about it when I go down there also.

add to that the fact that Disney added about 3x's as many supports as it needed, to make it look cheap, AND they added all those dinosaur cut outs, a themed que, and designed and built themed cars. So Disney really spent 5x's more then they had to to make it look that way.

Bwahahahaha. You have numbers to back that up. Dinosaur cutouts - I bet those were top of the line high quality cutouts right?

The main point that I'm trying to get across is that we should expect better attractions and themeing out of Disney. We all know they are capable of it (Tokyo DisneySea) but we're getting shafted with top of the line attractions like Premival Whirl. I will ride it to see how it is. I'm sure it's fun, but they could have made it even more fun, better themed, and made it fit the theme of AK at least. :brick:
