Prices might be going up at the World

Read that this morning too.
I don't think that specifically will cause a change, but your prediction in a broader sense is a sure bet! :(

I wouldn't count on any price hikes during the recession. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw some nice package deals aimed at the suffering middle class.

I did read, I think here somewhere, that Disney reservations have been getting a lot of people canceling their "bounce back" reservations for next year.

They certainly can't raise their prices too much if less and less people are going to the parks. They will probably offer more free dining to get people to the parks.

We can only hope. WE have a big trip planned for Dec 09 and I wanted to book the reservations right away but am holding off for any chance of free dining or something else. We will just have to put our tax money away and wait for a deal to pop up.

has anyone seen a year where room rates weren't increased? value rooms stay at $82 for 2009, deluxe rooms however are going to cost more, which seems silly in the slowdown we're in.

I want to say that last year was the most I've ever paid for a value and it wasn't during peak season... this year however I got around $49 a night at POP

If the ARE going to increase any rooms, it would make more sense to adjust only the deluxe rooms, and special categories. Often times the people that book those rooms are a little more "recession-proof".

Leave the Values and regular booking categories in the mods, and hope those more effected by the economy still come... And get your premium from the deluxes.

I received an e-mail the other dayfrom Mickey asking me to make a trip to the World by booking before March 31, 2009 with a PIN # for all kinds of dates next year from Jan through dates in Dec and receive 40% off a Disney stay at select Disney Value Resorts. I live in Canada, so I don't know if it was a Canadian promotion only. Our $ has dropped against the US so don't know if this is worth it or not. I haven't checked all the ins and outs to see if this is a good deal or not if our $ rises it would sure be tempting.
