Or any at all since they would be fired. It’s just as unlikely to think all the CMs would strike.

Obviously there'd be operational issues, but there's no shortage of people who'd happily take a full time job, in this economy especially...It’s hysterical that you think it wouldn’t be a massive logistical problem trying to hire thousands of people, do background checks on them, train them, etc.
Not if everyone does it…Walk off the job and strike at WDW guarantees your termination.
The unemployment rate in FL is 3.3 percent…Obviously there'd be operational issues, but there's no shortage of people who'd happily take a full time job, in this economy especially...
Are there other companies that offer the same benefit? What would the CMs demand in a strike? Not if everyone does it…
I’m not saying CM’s should strike. I’m just pointing out that Disney can’t fire everyone. Are there other companies that offer the same benefit? What would the CMs demand in a strike?
That’s pretty much true of every business.I’m not saying CM’s should strike. I’m just pointing out that Disney can’t fire everyone.
Agreed. That’s pretty much true of every business.
I was asking because I don’t know any of the facts about this. Companies cut voluntarily extended benefits all the time. It’s sad but I’m not sure what a strike would accomplish.Agreed.
The true unemployment rate is significantly higher, because of how the BoL reports the unemployment rate that everyone uses versus what number they'd get if they used a more accurate statistic...The unemployment rate in FL is 3.3 percent…
Someone said there's a no strike provision in the union contract. Does that not apply here or was the poster incorrect? It’s extremely hard to fill entry-level positions right now…I’m not saying 10k WOULD march. But if they did, WDW would have issues replacing them.
If they want to march and are smart, they’ll do so during a peak week. But, I’m not sure how many actually use Aspire.
I believe there is a no-strike provision in the union contract, and that basically applies whilst the contract is in effect.Someone said there's a no strike provision in the union contract. Does that not apply here or was the poster incorrect?
Then why would anyone be talking about a strike? What are the remedies for Disney if cast members violate the no-strike provision? Generally, when people agree to something in a contract that has some meaning.I believe there is a no-strike provision in the union contract, and that basically applies whilst the contract is in effect.
I'd hate to dive into the political nature of this, but these would come from the Rank-And-File Committees and not the Unions themselves. Then why would anyone be talking about a strike? What are the remedies for Disney if cast members violate the no-strike provision? Generally, when people agree to something in a contract that has some meaning.
You can have a provision in a contract but that doesn’t much matter if your employees are angry enough and you can’t replace them nor can you function without them.I believe there is a no-strike provision in the union contract, and that basically applies whilst the contract is in effect.
Absolutely. Especially the type of CM who rises up in the company. No matter how you view this, I’m thinking this will only hurt Disneys chance of attracting high-quality CM’s.
Naturally there are fantastic CM’s of all educational backgrounds - but this surely helped attract some good ones.
So basically if only let's say 100 CMs walked out, they'd be fired, but if the entirety of WDW Cast walkout it's a different story. But, as I said, I am not sure this latest change will anger enough CMs for it to matter. If 100 march down World Dr, they’ll be fired and that’s that. I was saying it would be different theoretically if it were 10k CMs walking.
