Guys,
I have great news in that my wife and I are expecting our first child in June of this year!

We are planning a short weekend trip to WDW in February. I know full well that she can not ride any of the Mountains, nor can she ride anything that is rough or high speed. Aside from that is she good to go? Pirates, HM, Peter Pan, Dumbo?

We are just planning to go to MK for a couple of days and maybe EPCOT as well. Your opinions are welcome.

Have your wife speak with her OB about what he/she advises. My doc told me go on whatever you're comfortable with, but it was my third child and my pregnancies were ridiculously easy.

A quick avoid list:

Mountains
ToT
RnRC
Star Tours (motion sims could aggravate nausea)
Everest
Dinosaur
Kilimanjaro Safari
Kali
Soarin'
Mission Space

I am not including Test Track on this list because if she can handle a car ride, she should be able to handle TT. But, the seatbelt can be jarring, so if she's the sensitive or nervous type, she shouldn't ride.

I have to disagree. Test Track is VERY different from a car ride. Here is a quote directly from the Test Track attraction page on the official WDW website.

"Expectant (pregnant) mothers should NOT ride."

To the OP....your wife should be able to ride anything that does not have a health warning. There will also be rides that do not have a health warning, but could make her queasy if she has a sensitive stomach....such as the tea cups. She will have to decide if she can handle those. The rides that have health warnings will have a sign posted listing those who should not ride. If you are curious to find out which ones have these warnings before your trip, the information can be found on the WDW website (linked above). Just go to the "attractions" page for each park and click on the rides you are interested in. If there is a health warning for that attraction, it will be listed. Luckily, most of the attractions at WDW do not have health warnings, so there will still be a ton for you to do!

There will always be people who ignore these warnings (and even some doctors who give the "okay" to ride these rides). To each his own, but I have the attitude that NOTHING is worth any risk to your baby. There is still plenty to do at WDW without taking any risks. Have fun!

I would personally avoid Test Track too (as well as those rides listed in above posts). Why take any chances? The only opnion that really matters is the one you should get from the doctor before you go.

Congrats! My wife and I are also due in June. We headed down to Disney in early September, knowing we might not be able to get back for a long while. We were not pregnant then, but I did a lot of reading to prep, and I believe the Unofficial Guide has a whole section on this. I am sure you can get a list of "safe" rides too. It's crazy but in my reading some women went on rides I would never suggest, such as Splash Mt. I would avoid Test Track. It has some quick breaking and high speeds, not good.

Congrats on the baby!! Not sure about a lot of the rides though...she will be over half way in her pregnancy. Like the others are saying...just see what the doctor says. I can go ahead and tell you he's going to say not to ride the big rides. Yall will still have a blast and should get plenty of tips from other members who have bene in the same situation. Good luck, congratulations and HAVE FUN!!:D

Depends what your wife and her doctor are comfortable with. My wife went pregnant, and her doctor basically told her even the roughest rides are highly unlikely to cause problems with the pregnancy if they work as they are meant to. Of course, the rougher the ride, the higher the risk, be we're talking (according the doc) very low overall risk anyways. He was more concerned with making sure she ate and drank enough while walking around than he was about what rides she went on. Of course, there's also the issue of discomfort.

My wife decided not to ride Tower of Terror, Rock n Roller Coaster, Space Mountain, Everest, Star Tours, Big Thunder and anything spinny (Tea Cups, etc.). She rode Test Track, Safari (the potholes in Chicago are far worse than anything on that ride), Soarin', Mission:Space (Green), and Splash. She did say she was a bit uncomfortable on Test Track and probably wouldn't ride again.

Disney (and other theme park operators) are very conservative on the warnings. Even Pirates and Maelstrom have warnings, for instance.

Congrats S. Paridon and pjkdog! I am due in June too :ROFLOL:

We just went to DL last month and talked to my OB beforehand; being early 2nd trimester, I got the OK to do anything I wanted and just skipped any rides with warning signs. Dumbo, Peter Pan, HM, Pirates, none of those you mentioned were a problem. Your wife be further along obviously and might find certain things uncomfortable; I'll echo what others have said and say go with your doctor's advice.

Have fun

However, on the WDW website neither of these rides state that pregnant woman should not ride them. I have no idea if they have a sign outside of the actual ride that states pregnant woman should not ride, but there are no warnings on the website for these two rides.

I just can't even fathom being pregnant and reading a sign on a ride that states "Pregnant woman should NOT ride" and then choosing to ride it anyway. I'm really not trying to offend anyone here....I know that several of you have stated that you or your wife have done this. I just can't imagine doing that myself, and I can't imagine my doctor giving me the okay to do it.

But like I said before, to each his own.

Pirates and Maelstrom have warnings for the worst case scenario; your boat bottoms out at the bottom of the flume (or the pump and sensors fail) and you get rammed from behind. Theoretically possible and a law suit waiting to happen if you wern`t warned.

Is it 5:00 yet?
I am due in May and we went to WDW in Dec. I avoided the mountains, Test Track, and KS...I don't do EE, RnRc or ToT anyway so that wasn't an issue...But if in doubt don't ride...they will be there the next time you go..:)

Here's my concern with Pirates and It's a Small World. When the rides get congested, the boats get stacked up and bump each other. Sometimes, the bumps are very hard. Is that safety issue if you are pregnant?

Congrats on baby! I went while pregnant 2 years ago. I was 4 1/2 months along at the time. I talked to my dr beforehand as well. It is always a good thing to do as they know how things in the pregnancy are going. My dr said Soarin and KS could be done with no problem. On KS I asked to sit in front as you don't feel the bumping as much up there(read that advice on a thread here at the time and am glad I took it...have been in the back a few times since and realized just how much more of a bumpy ride it is back there). I would not do test track though. It is way more than a regular car ride. And the force of the braking is strong. I also wouldn't do the teacups because of the spinning. In addition I skipped the mountains, RnRC, TOT, Goofy's Barnstormer, Star Tours, EE, Kali, Dinosaur, M:S, Primevil Whirl, Swiss Family Treehouse(no thanks on climbing all those stairs). I do wish I skipped Pooh too. The spot where it bounces like Tigger made me feel AWFUL!!!! My stomach was queasy for a while after it!!! I also would skip the Tomorrowland Speedway becuase you seem to always get hit from the person behind and because of the fumes. Have fun!!!!
