PotC mist screen removed/turned off for good

The site that shall not be named just tweeted not too long ago that the mist waterfall effect at the beginning of Pirates has been turned off and is gone for good, with audio being restored to “Dead men tell no tales.” Haven’t seen this reported anywhere else, can anyone confirm?

I’m also curious what this means for the rest of the ride, it seems like the movie references are being phased out slowly, starting with the mermaids.

Well, the last few times I’ve been on it in the past year, it’s been off. When I rode it in April, the mist was off, but you could still hear Davy Jones talking.

For the better. Not that it was a bad effect but it detracted from the unsettling vibe that the other cave scenes had.

Rode twice this week and can confirm the mist screen is off and “Dead Men Tell No Tales” audio is on.

Just rode last night and effect was off and there was no audio either. Was very dark through that area

Fog screens look great when they work but unfortunatly without allot of maintenance they don't work long.

Maybe this is actually for the best because in my opinion, the opening cave scenes were the creepiest when there was no audio other than the "dead men tell no tales" line being unsettlingly echoed nonstop.

Don’t know but I would find it hard to believe that they would remove all the depp animatronic’s. Then again, I never thought the redhead scene would change. Guess what I’m saying is I have no idea.

Not surprised since they removed DL's a while ago. I agree it's unnecessary and there's no cross-promotion of the films going on for them to add ANOTHER character to it.

It's only the last Sparrow AA that would be more difficult to remove no? I hope the movie references are going

My guess is that the next major update to the attraction will include removing Jack. Most likely would want a few years of a Depp free environment if they are rebooting the franchise.

I wouldn't mind if they kept one Jack Sparrow AA and then returned most of the ride dialogue to what it used to be instead of every line being about Captain Jack Sparrow

I actually think the Barbosa character fits better than the Capt Jack. They could leave that one

For the last 2 months I haven't seen it working, but I kept hearing that it would be back. If it is gone, this is some of the best news I have heard in a while. Without it, the tone is set much better and it makes for much better show. I guess it goes to show you that even TDO can get something right eventually if they keep trying.

I actually like that they removed it, primarily because I used to be so focused on that mist/ davy jones that I never realized the impressive waterfall to the left.
