My DH was actually stationed in Alaska for a year on a remote assignment. We missed him terribly but we got to visit a few times. It was absolutely gorgeous!!!

I haven't done the pages inside yet, just the cover. My best picture is of a grizzly we passed on the side of the road. My favorite picture I've taken - EVER!! I tried to get my husband to make him stand up and roar at us to make it even better - but he refused, imagine that!

So I am starting to do a scrapbook for myself and one for my mom of our recent trip to New York. I thought that I would post some of the pages here. It will be pretty slow going, though because I'm trying to do them simultaneously, I do a page for me and then copy it for her. So here's the first one that I completed of the plane ride there.

Oh, and try to ignore the hideous table cloth I put on my dining room table while I wash my other ones. I know, it's kind of distracting.

you just really cheered me up with those pics. they are gorgeous. i really can't understand why your husband would not want to play with the bear and make him stand up and roar for you. Men they are such cowards LOL

Wow, Tammy, those are fabulous pictures! I really love the one of you and the kids with the scenery behind you. Just beautiful! Now I have never been to Alaska, so you will have to bear with my dumb questions, but did you stay in a hotel? Or was this more of a camping trip? It looks so gorgeous that it would be nice to visit, but I don't think I could do the camping thing.

Thanks Jenn and eagles! I really like the map page by the way Jenn.

My dh (the one who wouldn't make the bear growl at us:lol:) was stationed 75 miles south of Fairbanks for a one year unaccompanied assignment. We drove him up to Alaska. It was 3 days in the car (from CO) to Seattle, then we caught a 3 day ferry to Alaska. It was a ferry not a cruise ship mind you!!:) We saw the whales and tons of ealges, most of the wildlife on the ferry.

We got off in Alaska then had to drive two days through Canada and back into Alaska. We saw the bear in Canada. We stayed in a hotel in Anchorage (no camping - Homewood Suites!!) for a few days and then sent him off to his base while we flew back to CO. We saw the moose in Anchorage (in a backyard!!).

We visited him two more times and flew into Fairbanks. We stayed in his tiny dorm type room on the base both times. Alaska was absolutely gorgeous. We hated being away from him for a year, but it was a wonderful place to visit.

Tammy - thanks for sharing the pics. I was actually born there as my father was stationed in Anchorage (Air Force). One day I will get there to see where I got my start. :animwink:

I wish dad were around to go back with me, he and my mom loved it there.
