When was SM built... 1969 ish? Thats before the time they banned Lead based paint.

What's funny is that Disneyland was built WAYYYYY before the 60's and WDW is the one people think is WAY older than it really is because of the terrible upkeep...

This could be a part of the "greener WDW" campaign. Instead of dropping it all in a landfill, just give it to the passholders and call it a perk.

You get some insulation, you get some old drywall, and you get a scoop of rust from the floor... Thanks for keeping WDW green! :lol:

On a related sad note, I was at Space Mtn. to register for this drawing back on the 15th.
After filling out my form, and putting it into the box, I looked at the young CM behind the counter and said "You know what's really sad?"
She replied, "What?"
I pointed to my cap from the DL SM refurb and said, "The only piece of Space Mountain merchandise in this whole store is on my head and it came from Disneyland."
No reply, she just shrugged.:shrug:

You betcha! I think SM opened in 75 and the final ban on lead paint wasn't in place until 77.

To anyone who receives the paint chips as your prize - simply do not eat them and you'll be OK...

True enough, but the same can be said of many rides. Most don't look all that good without show lighting.

Probably cause she has no control over what they sell in there.

And actually they do have Space Mountain name tags in that store.
