You know I have long had an issue with this. Most of the "expansion" is nothing more than replacement. Sure, the new stuff will be more popular and will draw more guests, but the capacity of the park tends to remain the same or just slightly better.
About the only real true expansion we have seen in quite some time is the Tron Coaster at MK. Everything else (Pandora, SW:GE, Guardians, Frozen, etc) have all been built on the ashes of other attractions and this makes me stabby. AK, Epcot, and DHS all need more attractions, not different ones.
The thought of a Frontierland Expansion hasn't and still doesn't make sense all things considered. Tomorrowland still needs the most work, Fantasyland could use a true headliner, and Adventureland could easily modify Jungle Cruise's layout to expand Adventureland with an E-ticket. The park doesn't need rollercoasters now, so an E-ticket high capacity dark ride seems like a sure-fire bet in any land.
How do you propose that dead end continues? Into a bridge onto Tom Sawyer and then what?
I get wanting to ditch the gift shop and meet and greet, but the splash zone is one of those things that contribute to why WDW is so great.
I still wish the Main Street Theater would make a comeback.I would argue that Frontierland clearly does need more capacity, specifically a milder family friendly ride. Something like... Western River Exploration ironically.
Adventureland would benefit from a higher trill E-ticket (Fire Mountain, Indiana Jones, JTTCOTE, etc.). Once Tron is built, I think the biggest thing for Tomorrowland would be actually using the Stitch space even if it is just a smaller attraction. And ironically the Main Street Theater was a great idea to add some capacity to that portion of the park.

I understand access to the utilidoors is all behind fantasyland, but I'm surprised they haven't ever built a bridge (like the DTD at DLR) over the road to access that land easily.
Imagine building two of these:

With just a little higher walls and more theme.
Place them like this:

Start with just a small area (with 2 entrances) by removing Pete's Silly Sideshow and the bathrooms next to Gaston's Tavern. Expansion to the west could be made over time once guest access has been established. I would eventually like to see this connect to a pathway on the western side of Haunted Mansion along the river front (would have to reconfigure HM quene)
At some point though if they continue to expand north of fantasy land, they will have to build a pedestrian bridge. I would just do it now and be done with it.Alternatively... they could reroute the Magic Kingdom Dr. road a little.

Most guests don’t realize when they approach Pinocchio’s and the restrooms, there’s an almost 2-story drop right behind that wall. Yet Storybook Circus is level with backstage access roads. That’s how the grading was handled back in the late ‘60s.Once you cross over, you have two stories of backstage warehouses to hide when you look behind you. Also the East side of that pond is very unsuitable for building according to surveying maps. Not that Disney couldn't, but, it'd be very expensive. Then, you have the issue of being too close to the fireworks launch.
That's why getting to the North side of HM and RoA is more likely.
Exactly. As a kid for me it was the misting tikis in Adventureland. My point is that it's something to do that doesn't require a fastpass or waiting in an hour (or longer) line. It might not be for you, but lots of kids like it, and it's a great place for the kids to play and get refreshed while parents can sit for a few minutes.
Since this is never gonna happen can someone reveal what the proposed fronteirland expansion was going to be all about?
That was one of the options. With partial fill or a bridge. And a kiddy coaster on TSI.I would like to know too. Didn't it involve permanently docking the Liberty Belle and filling in a portion of ROA while making a walkway around the front of the HM to the back portions of the river? Not sure though..anyone with more info?

Thanks Marni..I knew I remembered that. Kinda glad they didn't go with the docking of the Liberty Belle...it provides needed motion/activity along with the rafts to TSI on ROA. Otherwise it would be a stagnant pond in Florida and we all know what that would end up looking like.
It would’ve been docked due to the two large pedestrian bridges bisecting the island.I think the only reason they would do so is to add something with the footprint of Galaxy's Edge to the area between Big Thunder and Haunted Mansion..
